Battle Mage Secrets: Noxious Fumes - Call in Chemical Defence Squad

Prelude
Hello everybody, how is it going? It's time for more Battle Mage Secrets. Last week's sharing was on a ruleset that allowed Melee to go rampant and hit from any position in the lineup. This week the ruleset is another commonly encountered ruleset and this ruleset usually accelerates gameplay.

The ruleset of the challenge this week is: Noxious Fumes

Ruleset Spotlight

Noxious Fumes
All units are Poisoned at the start of the game.

Units with Immunity are not poisoned.
Resurrected or Rebirth monsters are no longer poisoned.
Cleanse can be used to remove poison.
Enrage is triggered by Poison application.

Abilities/Cards that get shutdown with this rule set
2 health cards are essentially fodder in this ruleset. They will all die within 1 turn when Noxious Fumes is applied and poison these cards to death. This is one important aspect of this ruleset to take note, else before your good ability cards do they need to do, they are already killed by poison.

What thrives with this ruleset?
Noxious Fumes ruleset is commonly encountered so here some strategy that we need to deploy when facing this ruleset. It will be done via calling in the chemical defence squad which boost your immunity, cleanse your gut, detonate the booster and help live off the scraps.

Boost Your Immunity
This is done via putting cards with Immunity. These are the ones that will stand the test of poison. Examples of such cards are Forgotten One, Harklaw and Almo Cambio. They are just standing there and seeing cards one by one killed by poison and living it out.

Cleanse Your Gut
Add cards with Cleanse ability into your squad to remove poison from your front liners and keeping them alive. You might not be able to cleanse every single one of them, but cleansing one is always better than none. Example of cards with Cleanse are River Nymph and Scavo Chemist. Another possible option is using Scarred Llama Mage whom give cleanse to the whole lineup.

Detonate The Booster
Since there is something that bring down health fast, why not use this to our advantage? Martyr is exceptionally good here because you no need to put them right at first spot to attempt to have them killed, but you can plant them deep in the lineup to let more cards get boosted for more value. Example of such card is Venari Marksrate which I simply love using and what better way to let poison detonate the Martyr ability.

Live of The Scraps
This essentially means using the Scavenge ability to get bigger as cards die off to outlast your opponent. Because this ruleset accelerates monsters getting killed by poison, this essentially benefits Scavenge ability. Example of such cards include Riftwing, Venari Seedsmith and Ant Miners.

Finally onto stats, since we know it is a poison mode ruleset, the higher the health the better. Armour in the case is not as useful as poison disregards armour. Speed wise, the faster we are, the faster we can knock out opponent cards before they knock out ours.

With these in mind, let's start to talk about the battle proper.

Opponent Lineup

• Summoner - Pembrook Nymph
• Position 1 - Serpent of Eld
• Position 2 - Deep Lurker
• Position 3 - Isglad Vorst
• Position 4 - Giant Squid
• Position 5 - Albatross

Prediction before pressing rumble
Should be an easy match for me. I have cards in every department of my chemical defence squad and to handle the dodge from Serpent of Eld. But likely my Ant Miners might get taken out by the two opportunity cards from my opponent.

Battle Synopsis

Round 1, As I predicted, Ant Miners was taken out alongside Venari Marksrat, which trigger the Martyr and grew my Forgotten One and Minotaur. No casualty on my opponent side before the poison.

Round 2, After poison application, most stuff have been killed throughout the round and what remained was my Forgotten One.

Round 3, Another fast paced round. With poison applied and Forgotten One striking, it is down to Giant Squid and Isgald vs Forgotten One.

Round 4, This is the deciding round. where everything is down to low health. Forgotten One standing tall after this round with everything else killed by poison. Victory secured.

Post Battle Summary
Everything was so fast with poison applied. Everything went as plan with Forgotten One the star of this match.

Did my strategy work? Yes, all the cards did what they need to do except Ant Miners whom was taken out by opponent opportunity card. Scavo Chemist cleansed Minotaur which did a devastating blow on Serpent of Eld, while Forgotten One just ran rampage.

What's the Battle Mage Secret?
My chemical defence squad is the secret that I want to share with you for Battle Mage Secret. Ensure you have an Immunity card to outlast, a Martyr card to detonate to boost the rest, Cleanse card to remove poison and also Scavenge card to pick up the pieces.

This squad had served me well for numerous Noxious Fumes battles. Forgotten One is also an ace card for this ruleset, get a copy of it if you haven't yet.
