The value of my complete Splinterlands card collection went above $900 USD. Should I sell them? (2021.11.06)

avatar

My complete Splinterlands card collection is currently consist of 132 cards, and it currently worth $909.23 USD.

Honestly speaking, it is very tempting to sell all of it. If I would sell all the cards, then I could buy a sailboat. I know that a lot of people would gladly sell all of the cards immediately. I almost hear people saying "sell it, and buy that boat".

But I really do not know what to do. Should I really sell the cards? If I would sell them, then I could still be able to play the game with the beta starter set, or even with rented cards, but it would very negatively affect my SPS airdrop. Most of my SPS airdrop points comes from the power of my card collection. Nowadays I earn 2-3 SPS per day with the airdrop. This is a good passive income, and I do not want to throw it away. But if I sell my cards, then that would basically mean throwing this away.

Something inside tells me not to sell my Splinterlands cards now.

What should I do? Someone please write some suggestions. Should I sell my cards now, or not?

Daily sell and bank the SPS tokens, keep playing and keep saving. You're doing well on Hive, make sure you keep some assets liquid and when you have enough......BUY THE BLOODY BOAT! I want to see sailing boat posts my friend, I'm counting on you!

If you don't need the money, don't sell. Save your passive income from the cards until you have enough for your boat.

I am also thinking about something similar. Especially seeing the huge support from the Hive community. I almost have $100 HBD in savings alone, which I save exclusively for the sailboat. Probably I will be able to buy a sailboat sooner than I expect it, which would be awesome.

I give you some !PIZZA.

And I say a huge thank you to everyone, who support me. I also try to do the same to others. My 100% upvote is currently worth around $0.022. Literally my two cents, but everything matters in long term.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings from Hungary.

Boats are well known for draining money.

These cards make you money, nothing yields like Splinterlands.

If your already financially free, buy the boat with other funds, if not don't sell these cards it makes no financial sense!

Boats are well known for draining money.

I hear this from more and more people. Then a sailboat is maybe not the best plan? My pension-like income (for my multiple disabilities) is approximately $250 USD per month. Nowadays I also work in a four hours per day part time job (my total income is approximately $470 USD per month, while the local minimum wage is approximately $550 USD), but if the boat maintenance is less than $100 USD per month, then I would not need to do even this four hours per day part time job. So I would be completely free.

If your already financially free

No, I am not. Quite the opposite. I would buy a sailboat to live on it. I would not have to pay high rent and high regular, monthly bills (which nowadays are approximately $177 USD per month) in that case, so I would be free, and finally out of the financial discrimination. At least this is my current plan since the previous few months.

Do you have a better idea (to live)? I mean something better than a sailboat for around $1000 USD.

I looked into it - at least in Britain the costs of living on a boat end up being enormous - mooring fees, canal license, insurance, regular maintenance.

A van would be a better option. Ideally a van and some land to park it on.

I do really want a canal boat, but I've ended up buying land and renting a regular house, for me it's cheap. (I own my own house btw which I rent out for twice the cost I rent this one for!).

Might me different costs where you live of course.

As to my crypto assets, I am selling off some DEC and SPS but not the cards, but then again I'm yielding like crazy of a deck work $150K and 1 Million DEC, so I'd be crazy not to take something out as I go.

But not the cards, they are like the base-income.

I currently live in Hungary, but with a sailboat, I could go anywhere.

There are two problems with it. The first problem is that a van would cost almost the double of the sailboat. At least nowadays in Hungary. I checked it now, and the current cheapest is around $1925 USD. The second problem is that I do not have a driving license, so driving it would be risky outside the village.

But if I will not have any other choice, I could really end up living in a van, or even in a car. I am so tided of the financial of the high rent and the high regular monthly bills. And both of these are higher in the cities. So high that I could not even afford it. A rent in the cities would cost almost my full monthly income, so I do not have other choice. Either a boat, a van, or a car. The last two are risky for the above mentioned reason.

Well maybe a boat would be better for you!

Also a bit more romantic than a van!

Well, until you're living in it in February freezing!

I just need a good place, where the winters are not that cold. For example near Spain.

Just rent them out. You will regret selling

Maybe that is also a good idea. I have not tried to offer these cards for rent so far.

My cards were also worth 900$ once. I didn't sell. Now they're worth 75K$.
You know my answer.

$75 000 USD? Wow. That is an incredible amount. That is literally 25 years (two and a half decades) of pension-like income for me. Around $3210 USD (around 1 million HUF) (Hungarian Forint) I could buy literally a house in the countryside of Hungary.

I would at least keep enough collection power so you can still earn in game. After all, it's a long term game and you still want to keep earning incase any addition costs come up in the future.

I decided not to sell the cards now. After all there is no emergency (right now), and thanks to the support from very kind and very generous Hive users, I have enough savings for this winter.

I would say hang on to your collection.
At the rate this game is growing, the value should increase. :)

I can't advise you on what to do as only you know whats best for your current financial situation. I have read all the comments and your resposnes to them and I would like to offer you help in form of Splinterland delegations. Looking at your collection it looks like you have base level summoners. I have some Beta Level two summoners that aren't being used so I'll delegate them to you with a few neutral monsters leveled to the max in which Level two Summoners allow.

Delegated Summoners

MALRIC INFERNO / Level 2
LYANNA NATURA / Level 2
ALRIC STORMBRINGER / Level 2

Delegated Monsters

Highland Archer / Level 3
Goblin Mech / Level 3
PRISMATIC ENERGY / Level 2

I will say this one thing about selling ones full collection of Splinterlands cards. I haven't met anyone that did so that was happy about their decision. The delegations will be removed at some point but they will likely stick around for a good while. Good luck on the battle field. I hope they help you earn some rewards.

I would like to offer you help in form of Splinterland delegations.

Thank you so much. I already played some of the cards in battles.

I haven't met anyone that did so that was happy about their decision.

Actually once I did that with my Beta cards more than one year ago, but I am not happy about it either. I was happy at that time, because it helped me with my life expenses, but later I regretted it, as the prices of the cards highly increased. But I move forward.

Thank you so much for the delegation again.

I give you some !PIZZA and some !LUV.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
