40% More Land SPS Rewards Today After Jarvie's Proposal Is in Effect!

avatar

This is the region where I have my tract. Notice anything?

If you said there are two tracts and a few other plots unsurveyed, you are right.

Last week I wrote a post reminding people to (claim and) survey their land, being in their own interest to do that.

Yesterday the maintainance window for Splinterlands came with the expected update that puts into practice the approved SPS proposal to only distribute land SPS rewards to holders of surveyed land.

That's where the title comes from.

That's the difference in rewards, before and after the release of the changes in accordance with the proposal.

Before yesterday, I received around 133 SPS daily for my tract.

After the update, this is what I receive:

187 SPS compared to 133 SPS daily. That's roughly 40% more. Of course, the difference will come down as more land gets surveyed.

I won't hold my breath to seeing much more land claimed, and we are now at region 122 from 150, so 28 regions unclaimed.

That means three things:

  • for active land owners, after the changes introduced during the last update to Splinterlands, SPS rewards increase even if everyone who has already claimed surveys their land today; that is because rewards are split among a little fewer than 122k pieces, instead of 150k (if all claimed plots are surveyed, otherwise fewer).
  • the Great Lowlands territory (orange) may end up weaker in the pursuit for the Secret of Praetoria, if not all regions are claimed; on the other hand, players in this territory have less competition for the leaderboard and for the benefits of the Secret of Praetoria, if they discover/build it
  • the Shimmering Coast territory (purple) may remain unocuppied (no claims there) - if that happens, how does that impact the game?

Something else I wanted to touch upon.

Jarvie's proposal, the one that is in effect right now and gives land SPS rewards only to people who surveyed their land, is by design a temporary measure:

This proposal would last from when surveying starts until a new more advanced proposal takes over.

  • This is estimated to be approx. 4months
  • Surveying is estimated to begin the end of this month (march)
  • A new SPS distribution system is estimated to begin June/July

The proposal from Splinterlands (for now a pre-proposal) is what would decide what takes place after Land 1.5 is released. The two proposals are not contradictory, they work at different moments in time.

And they both have one common goal - to move land rewards toward players who are actively involved/interested in the land expansion.

I didn't notice an increase - an increase in quantity does not mean an increase in quality - this game is a way to take away and freeze your Hive / in return you get pictures with a hypothetical opportunity to sell them - if of course someone needs them after the greedy aggressive policy of the shards team!

I don't know what to say... So far this game has been treating me quite well. And I have taken profits out too. Not as much lately with the land expansion, but I will need to take some profits in the bull market too, to feel like all the time spent growing my involvement in Splinterlands is worth it.

Nice bump in revenue and that might become higher when the distribution will be only on working land. That's when I need to see how I can manage as it needs quite a bit of DEC for it.

And even further, it won't be based on working the land, but mining SPS, which is one of the possible options to work the land. We'll have to make some choices then...

Great post! I never picked up any land but I'm tempted to now. I've been undecided for so long I think it's time to just jump in .

The good thing is you can now choose certain plots that are on offer, based on their location, rarity, type of terrain, category, and even starter packages purchased during surveying.

Exactly, this way I know what I'm getting!

How can I check if I am getting SPS for holding plots?

From Splinterlands -> your account menu -> Currency Activity -> Unclaimed (type:surveyed_land)

The way we see a lot of posts these days on this sprinterland and talking on this land gameplay. Those who are land owners are also being rewarded well. As this thing becomes more popular, we will see the price of SPS go up.

I believe there are different resource focuses for each area so I wonder how the balance would react if those lands are unclaimed. Will they adjust the rates based on how many plots are claimed out there? I feel that would be better to make sure those resources are still produced at the same rate.

Good observation! This needs to be checked, but there are 26 or 28 different regions throughout Praetoria that repeat themselves. I don't know if the Purple territory has a higher density of certain types of regions, with certain types of terrains than other territories. If it does, some adjustments will need to be made, like the requirements for the resources produced on those types of terrains lowered for upgrading buildings in Land 2.0.

Congrats on the extra income. I think it will encourage more people to survey their land if they don't want to lose the income.

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post! Comment Footer.jpg

Thanks! If someone holds unsurveyed land, it would be in their own interest to survey it as soon as possible, for sure.

Thanks for the info @gadrian.
How does someone earn leo?
How do I know if I have any leo?
Where would I look?
Thank you.

You earn LEO in multiple ways. One way is by posting with a 'leofinance' tag, if you receive upvotes from someone who has a LEO stake. If you use the leofinance.io interface, they add the tag by default. Another is if you comment and receive upvotes on a post that has the 'leofinance' tag, like my posts.

Another way you earn LEO is by curating other Leofinance posts when you have a LEO stake.

Another way to earn LEO is if you delegate Hive Power to their account leo.voter.

There are other ways too.

I think the easiest way to see your LEO stake is from their interface, leofinance.io. and then your wallet. You log in, as usual, with your Hive username and with Keychain.
