Have You Taken in Consideration the Price of a Title, as Discount For Rebellion?

(Edited)

So, the Rebellion presale started yesterday and half of the offered booster packs during the presale have been sold so far (250k).

+1k while writing this post...

It's interesting that at 250k packs sold already in the presale, assuming 4000 DEC per pack with max VOUCHER discount, that's 1bn DEC. Half of that - the SPS DAO's share - means 500m DEC. At current DEC price of 0.93 USD (nice!) per 1000 DEC, that means 465k USD, which means the DAO is already in profit, on paper, by 215k USD.

I was thinking to take a look at the rewards specific to the presale.

Promo Cards

First, there are the two promo cards (one rare and one legendary) which anyone participating in the presale has the chance to win (as always, the more packs were bought. the higher the chances to receive these airdrops).

The fact one of the promos is a rare card makes it likely even players who purchase a smaller amount of packs (10) to receive this airdrop, and at 250 they are guaranteed a GF rare one. For the legendary promo, it's a matter of luck, but generally more packs are needed to have a chance to receive them. For a guarantee, for the legendary promo card 100 packs are needed, and for a GFL 2500.

So, it's interesting. If someone buys 100 packs, they are guaranteed to receive a regular legendary promo card and 10 regular rare promo cards after the presale.

Leaderboard Rewards

From the leaderboard rewards what holds a monetary value are the titles.

We are talking about 250 new titles from legendary to rare. While the comparison may not be very relevant because each title has its own history and number of owners, for the rarity itself (which translates into differentiated production points bonuses for land), we can have some comparisons.

What is important to remember is that not everyone will receive these bonuses. It's not based on a threshold of packs you buy, it is competitive.

Currently, 2501 packs purchased bring with them a legendary title, 552 packs an epic title and 106 packs a rare title. But they may change even until I finish this post.

The cheapest legendary title on the market costs 1499 USD for the Untamed title.

To buy 2501 packs, one needs around 9304 USD for DEC and 417 USD for VOUCHERs (without bonuses), so 9721 USD in total. Of that, the price of the legendary title represents a little over 15%.

If we consider the additional 15% they benefit from for buying over 2000 packs (I haven't counted vouchers for them), it can be 30% discounted.

Let's see how we stand for the epic title. The cheapest on the market is 300 USD for the Gambler title.

To get an epic title on the Rebellion presale leaderboard right now, one needs 552 packs. I'm not sure if bonus packs count in this calculation, so I'll continue to do the math without them.

552 packs cost 2054 USD for the DEC and 92 USD for the vouchers, in total 2146 USD. 300 from 2146 USD represents almost 14%. Plus 10% if the players takes bonus packs for vouchers, that's 24% off.

And finally, the cheapest rare title on the market is 149 USD for the Leggionaire title.

To get a rare title based on the leaderboard of the presale right now, one needs 106 packs, which cost 395 USD for DEC and 18 USD for the vouchers, so 413 in total. 149 from 413 represents an impressive 36%, plus 5% for taking bonus packs, that's 41%. Of course, that's the easiest category to drop off as others buy more packs, so it won't stay like that.

It is an exercise of imagination based on some true elements. But we won't know the real price of the new titles until they hit the market, nor if the players who get them want to sell them or keep them, for example to use them on their land plots.

wow, that was quick and Splinterlands made a good profit of 250k USD.

For Splinterlands, it's 250k USD from the DAO and 465k USD (in DEC) from sales, but unlike the DAO, they have expenses, and lots of them.

Splinterlands was a great investment for me, but this post is not about my gains at all, really, since I haven't participated in the presale.

I won't participate in this presale. Focusing on land and I don't have funds for both.

It looks like the presale is going well. I started a withdrawal last night for HBD. So I will see if there are still packs available after that goes through. It has slowed down to an extent I guess.

It looks like you won't have any issues to catch it.

Hello @gadrian this is very interesting and sounds like it will be profitable and amazing if I am understanding this correctly. So will this help Land and DEC work out better too? Thank you. Have a great weekend. Barb 👍😄⭐⭐ !BBH !CTP #ctp

Not really. Rebellion isn't helpful on land and it won't be for a good while. Its best use case is on battles (modern format primarily).

And I still strongly believe that the sale from Dec will increase more in future as time goes on

It surely will. A year is a long time. After all, CL sold 12m packs and only 2m in the presale. But that's an unfair comparison for more than one reason. I believe 2-3m for Rebellion would be ok.

It's nice that the presale sold more than half on the first day. Thinking of the title as a way to recoup some funds is interesting, but with the presale still ongoing, it is difficult how much packs will be necessary to get it. You might end up buying more than you need, and still end up outside of the top 250 if people do last minute purchases.

That is true, and I remarked that as well. This is a competitive bonus, and it's likely to lower the "return" as more people participate or buy more packs.

Just the way we've seen that people have shown a lot of interest in it and bought things and that's a good thing. There are more at the top which is a good thing.
