Hello steemians!

I guess I'm back from a significantly long hiatus (at least to my standards). Before the holiday break, I promised myself to post at least one post per day, but I guess the holiday break was very hard on me. I could say that the last holiday break was my most unproductive holiday in terms of blogging, but it was my most eventful one.

After the hiatus, I would always have difficulty in getting myself to work again so I guess I'll just cut myself some slack. Let's do this even though I don't know how to do this anymore.

Last weekend, we decided to have an overnight stay again at Kawit Paradise Beach Resort. I already featured this place last time in one of my quests, but this time it's different. Last time I enumerate the reasons why I love to go back and indeed, I went back! Those reasons still holds true even after the place was just recently devastated by Typhoon Ursula.

Let me share my post last time. The typhoon really made the place miserable, but I think we were wired to look for the beauty in it.

You can click the link for that post if you want to compare, but I bet you'll end up disappointed. We were really sad when we got there. The following photos greeted us in a way we didn't expect.

Talisay trees near the beach were uprooted, almost 3 feet deep of white sand was washed out that buried structures were sticking out, litter and seaweeds were very visible, and the sea was muddy and full of rocks. Those were very far from the white sand and crystal clear water of the resort when we visited months ago.

In the words of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, "to look for the beauty in it... to see situations with silver lining...", there's still beauty amidst the mess and chaotic aftermath of a Signal No. 3 typhoon. We can't go back just because it wasn't as beautiful as before.

The sea was still there, albeit rocky and cloudy, we can still swim. The sand was still there, although a significant portion has been washed out. On the bright side, we have each other's company. That's irreplaceable.

I guess I was able to channel my inner model that day. It feels like it was summer already, but I was wearing a jacket so it was a little misfit. Everything seemed to be out of place, but it worked out fine.

[1/600 secs @ f/22.0, ISO 3200, 40.8 mm]

I guess the goal that day was to vogue as much as possible regardless of the background. Good thing the people who were with me were so game. There was no dull moment with them. It really matters who you're with.

Sunset

[1/250 secs @ f/5.6, ISO 200, 45.0 mm]

All it takes was that one fiery red sunset and all our sadness and dissapointments went away. I played with the colors and take the same subject as the changes on color progressed. It's undeniable that the north of Cebu has one of the best sunsets in the Philippines.

[1/70 secs @ f/5.6, ISO 200, 45.0 mm] | [1/100 secs @ f/5.6, ISO 1250, 45.0 mm]

I love watching those people swimming and enjoying their time at the beach. Those locals are one of the testaments of the resilience of the Filipinos. They were devastated by the typhoon, but they enjoyed at the beach after. This is not to glorify hardships, but I felt inspired watching them.

[1/4 secs @ f/10.0, ISO 100, 15.0 mm]

At first it was just a normal sunset. As the sun has fully set below the horizon, the sky changes to fiery red.

[1/1 secs @ f/13.0, ISO 100, 25.6 mm]

It was a spectacle! Need I say more?

[1/1 secs @ f/13.0, ISO 100, 15.0 mm]

We just stand there in awe. Everything was perfect for me. I guess I'll always be a sucker of sunsets.

[1/15 secs @ f/2.2, ISO 800, 2.87 mm]

When it got fully dark, we had a bonfire at the beach. We asked the owner if it's okay and they agreed so we get on with it. Of course we dug a small hole for the embers. It was another experience that we didn't do last time.

[1/25 secs @ f/1.8, ISO 800, 4.25 mm]

It was one for the books. A good way to start the year. I guess that's all for this post. I hope you'll like it. If you do, leave a comment down below and show some love.
