Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

When I said in last week's diary entry about the crypto market being bad, I doubt anyone would have thought it would become far worse that quickly. In the space of a few days, Silvergate has gone bust, followed by Silicon Valley Bank too! That's a way larger bank whose customers weren't primarily crypto focused, but tech startups (as their name implies). BTC dipped below $20k at one point and even HIVE has fallen down to $0.34. All the gains since January have more or less been wiped out in just these few weeks. It looks like the bear market is far from over. 😱📉💸

One can always take some consolation in Splinterlands I guess? At the end of the day, this is still a game I enjoy playing and helps as some form of destressing. 🤣

On the Splinterlands dev side of the game, this past week has seen some huge news. Chaos Legion is FULLY SOLD OUT! All those 15 million packs are now forever gone. It's going to be a somewhat barren patch again for packs as no major releases are planned till Rebellion. Some major changes are also incoming in terms of ECR. The way we manage Energy, as we know it, will be forever changed! Also, a sneak peak at an upcoming PROMO CARD? 😱

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 68th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks another weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

It's been rather peaceful in my own personal Splinterlands experience this past week. I'd expect it to get more hectic soon as the next End of Season approaches in about 3 days. Till then, it's just daily grinding and farming of the Daily Focus chest rewards.

I haven't got anything spectacular, unless one counts the occasional Chaos Legion pack. That isn't too bad I guess, seeing as they're all sold out now and there's an expectation that their future value will slowly creep upwards. 📈🤑

On a personal note, I actually went on a 10 game perfect winning streak for my Guild battles this past week, albeit it's combined between my main and alt accounts — both of which play for the PIZZA guild. 🍕

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

"Announcing a New Energy System for Splinterlands Ranked Battles" 😱

Yup. You've heard it right. This is yet another major incoming change coming soon which will completely change how we play the game. Currently, the number of battles are pretty much determined by the ECR system which goes on a percentage scale to a maximum of 100%.

The new changes will change it to a flat number, up to a maximum of 50, with each battle taking 1 point of energy until we hit 0. Following which, NO battles can be played until it regenerates again. Energy recovers at a flat rate of 1 Energy per hour and there will also no longer be diminishing returns to the amount of Reward points or SPS rewards gained from your energy level too. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

What's this cute goblin carrying a bag of gold? It seems like there will be another PROMO card release. This character is named VRUZ and it's abilities are as of yet completely unknown. This sneak peek of it's artwork is all that has been revealed.

This promo card is pretty interesting as it will be linked to SPS staking. Not much details have been released yet, but I would venture that it would be a good guess that it requires staking SPS up till a certain snapshot date, following which this card will be airdropped to SPS stakers.

It's not a bad idea to boost the SPS price and encourage staking. What is unknown is how the prices will be kept stable after the snapshot has ended? Is there some other hidden mechanism which restricts the use/abilities of this card to a player's current total SPS stake? Who knows? 🤣🤷‍♂

The idea does have some merit and potential though. I eagerly await more details. 😎

Well, CHAOS LEGION IS ALL SOLD OUT! I guess there isn't anything for me to track anymore? I will monitor the Riftwatchers pack numbers for awhile to see if they're worth tracking. Till then, I guess we have to wait for the next major expansion? 😉
