What is Hive SBI?
Hive Stake Based Income (Hive SBI) is a social experiment to bring a voluntary crowdfunded basic income to as many Hivers as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Hive SBI is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Background
Hive SBI was originally founded almost four years ago, on the Steem blockchain, as Steem Basic Income. When the fork forming Hive occurred, Hive SBI was 'airdropped' to Steem Basic Income members and established as a separate program. Hive SBI has delivered over a million upvotes. Most accounts that receive support have never paid anything, but instead have been sponsored by others!
Hive SBI is unique in that it is an account based curation program. You're actually curating other accounts to receive consistent upvotes and sponsoring them into the program. When you sponsor others into the program, you are also enrolled to receive consistent upvotes - in essence you receive your curation indirectly as upvotes on your own content.
This is a comparable result to powering up and configuring other users on your own auto voter, except that Hive SBI enables you to do so in a way that requires much less cognitive bandwidth. The upvote delivery dynamically responds to changes in people's posting behavior, and ensures that delivered upvotes are never dusted. It stores up potential value for people that are taking a break and delivers it when they return.
Because of these unique characteristics, Hive SBI is an extremely effective retention mechanism. Users that have been enrolled into Hive SBI have often commented that they find the votes to be a good incentive to continue posting. It inspires them to keep up a consistent effort; they appreciate seeing regular support.

Splintertalk Curation Proposal
In onboarding new users, Splinterlands has proven itself to be an unstoppable engine of growth. Thousands of new users are creating Hive accounts. We see the current challenge of integrating them into the Hive community as a good fit for our ongoing mission.
We had already started building up a small SPT position when one of Hive SBI's big early supporters (@dynamicgreentk) made a large investment into the Splintertalk token (SPT) and asked Hive SBI to become more involved in Splintertalk curation.
Hive SBI already has a trailing account that accumulates tokens (@sbi-tokens) so that members that post within particular communities will also receive tribal token votes for their posts in those communities.
We always encourage our members to be respectful of appropriate tag usage and we are willing to skip-list members who continually use tags that are not appropriate for the content that they are posting, in fact we have strived to maintain high standards over the course of four years.
After receiving the request from @dynamicgreentk to get more involved in Splintertalk curation, we reviewed our resources and determined that a community funded proposal would be the most effective way of boosting Splintertalk activity.
If our proposal is funded, 100% of the requested SPT will be powered up on the @steembasicincome account and delegated to our token trail account (@sbi-tokens). This two step process is to make it more transparent to the community that the received SPT is being staked and dedicated to curation in accordance with our commitments.
Any liquid curation rewards earned on the @sbi-tokens account will be used at our discretion. The primary uses would be to provide market-making support in various token markets, support our 2.0 development that is currently in progress, and accumulate SPS for one of our upcoming features (not yet announced).
Any curation rewards received as staked SPT tokens on the @sbi-tokens account will be left alone to accumulate on @sbi-tokens and further boost our Splintertalk curation capabilities.
Conclusion
We anticipate that existing Hive SBI members will post more about their Splinterlands activity, as well as actively curate newer Splinterlands accounts by sponsoring them into the Hive SBI program. We have already seen some of this from our team members as we have been in discussions about this proposal.
Hive SBI has been warmly received by most of the Hive community over the last several years, and we deeply appreciate the ongoing support! This proposal will enable us to extend our reach and help countless members of the Splintertalk community in the years to come.

It would be good for the ecosystem to have more than one major curator. We have been buying SPT, and plan on buying more. The idea of the proposal was to extend reach quickly.

What if you are doing it to fund a project that the money is not going to your pockets but to community members. I think in that case its ok and you bought the tokens so you are free to do with them what you want. I vote my own post and comment 10X per day right now so i can get are curation team up with stakes.

People who have had a "big" stake and have upvoted their own comments and posts, tend to be getting downvoted by other big users, just so you are aware.

Interesting proposal yet if it passes for 100k SPT a day for 1 day or 730 days, do all get free shares if the community funds this instead of us buying shares with SPT? I bet it would pass more easily if liquid rewards were burned with an accurate number of what would be burning throughout the 2 years and what it could also do for the tokenomics? The sound of it going to fund your programs overhead means you will be selling curation payouts so... Great program though, too bad I gave my SBI shares away years ago.
We considered burning or staking the liquid rewards. They're actually going to be pretty negligible over the life of the program, so it's better to have some flexibility.
There will be no buying units with SPT. Our team have already started curating more splintertalk users, and there will be some exciting new features in our 2.0 release. We don't want to leak too many details at this time, though.

I was reading the SBI pinned post and I read this one, and, as a relatively new person to Hive, I have to say: 1. This sounds very cool, and 2. I wish there was an "explain it to me like I am five" version because I don't really understand what I need to do to enroll. Can I enroll or do I need to be sponsored? The instructions seem unclear. I should probably hop on the discord, but I prefer to figure things out on my own (right... so why am I writing a question/comment, then? -- well, I can't find the answers, and I thought maybe other people have similar questions.)

Hey guys I missed a vote today and after just making 3 posts my vote value has dropped 33% or so.
I was scheduled to get a $5.20 vote per vote but after 3 posts it is now 2.9 and that is without today's vote. I have not posted in at least 3 months before recent 3 posts over 3 days.
Why is my vote value 3x times lower than when I had similar shares and a much more higher posting freq with another account.
Does @steembasicincome penalize posting once a day on Hive and why is my Vote much lower with sbi having better HP voting mana %, higher vote value and less posting frequency?
Looks like the missed vote is because nodes stopped responding again. We've restarted our bot to connect to a different node and it should catch up soon.
Your vote value fluctuates depending on several different factors. Your account earns rshares (pending vote value) every 2.4 hours and then receives up to 1/3 of your pending value when you post. The actual vote values can vary depending on how the blockchain is valuing those rshares (HIVE price), along with how long it has been since your last post. Shorter intervals mean less rshares accumulation.
You should only expect consistent vote values day to day several conditions are met:
Since all of these things change often, you should expect your vote value to vary from day to day. At a minimum, since posts don't even payout for a week, you should evaluate vote values after two weeks at any given SBI level (a full week of payouts) before establishing a baseline expectation.
At the current rate I will be earning less of a % of the vote than much much smaller investors to program. The math is not adding up at all.
What is my posting frequency btw and why is there a large I mean HUGE difference in vote values with more hp on program, higher vote values and an extremely low posting frequency, in comparison to just 3 months ago. Investors who believe in you and your program are being penalized
You've only posted three times since getting back into the program. You need at least a week of paid out posts before you can establish an accurate %.
The values in Peakd are estimations, and they use some delayed inputs, so they are not very accurate when the HIVE price is going down.
All Hive SBI units earn rshares at the same rate. Membership is a subscription to an ongoing account-based curation service; members are not investors and SBI units are not an equity stake.
Considering it is advertised as a lifetime program I would argue any money you put into a lifetime program is an investment. This program is unique because in my three years of exp I have found it beneficial to invest into you via your program and Hive as a result, my recent remigration to your program was more so the latter. You even, in past posts indicate possibility of return of initial investment in relation to current prices on market but was also more so in steem days. I am sure you worded investment a certain way.
Also in my exp when price of either steem or hive would rise so would value of vote except now. I will consider the variable for waiting a week for the algo to translate accuratly formulas. Seems that is not the case looking over people's posts I am used to monitoring sbi I would give to.
You are a smart person and it does not take one to look at my past posts and the recent ones to see something is way different. Also Peakd numbers in my exp has been very accurate and have double checked with you before even.
Thanks for your time and I am, as you know, able to get more sbi shares in near future and in a community right now. I have been promoting your program. I will be patient and wait the week
Point taken, but if you buy google adwords to promote a local business, it's an investment for you (and you would likely track ROI on your ad purchases internally) but revenue for them. Google would not see you as an investor (you don't own shares of Google) but as a customer.
Return of initial investment is subject to our return policy, and it requires a qualifying event (a material change to the program since the accounts initial enrollment). Our last qualifying event was when Hive SBI forked from Steem Basic Income at the time of the Hive fork from Steem. Our next qualifying event will be when we complete our 2.0 release (likely in the upcoming quarter). Any accounts that are enrolled on Hive only will not qualify for refunds under our policy until the next qualifying event.
The vote value rises with the Steem/Hive price, but usually on a delayed basis (3-5 days minimum, sometimes longer) and not with a perfect correlation. When price goes up, inactive accounts become active again and it negatively impacts some of our sustainability metrics.
Right now the votes will be very wonky because of the node issues we've been having. There's no new pending balance accrual for hours at a time when it gets stuck, and then it will catch up several rounds of accrual when we detect it and enter replay. We are injecting a better alert processes to detect and remedy node issues more quickly as part of our 2.0 roadmap, but at present we have to either monitor the logs regularly or have somebody inform us when votes are being missed. If it's a long interval before we detect it (this time was about 20 hours) and node issues continue while we try to catch up, it can take a long time to resolve.
Rather than deleting these messages I will say thank you for your video call today and getting on same page. You were very helpful and explained everything perfetly. So much so that I want to get more HSBI soon!

HBI 2.0.. I like it the way it is :oWe have not announced the changes yet because the timeline is still uncertain.
We definitely took into account that most members like things how they are. The 2.0 release is designed so that new features are mostly opt-in and operations will proceed unchanged for members not interested in the new functionality.

Previously you came back from a long period of inactivity, and you had a large pending balance that accrued during that period of inactivity. You're comparing a vote powered by 1 day of rshares accrual with a vote powered by months of rshares accrual.
I can't give more specifics about now versus then without you sharing the specific posts you're comparing. Even then, vote values are sensitive to several external conditions and change over time.
I understand I will wait. Biggest concern is that math works if I were to get more shares. defi pools are nice and maybe defi makes more sense if there is huge wall with membership program

This concept is good, you onboard, sponsor, curate and support good content creators , for those who have gone quiet, this good for them cos something is stored up for them. I wish I knew how to participate
It's easy to participate, you just choose an account to support and send HIVE with their user-name to @steembasicincome. You and they each receive 1 units per 1 HIVE that you send. You can send any quantity of HIVE and the frequency and size of your upvote is directly related to the total units that you have.

Hello HSBI team. I have a bug with my HSBI votes. Every time I get votes from you, it votes almost infinitely. I always end up in the minus. The last time I was so far in the red about 3 weeks ago that it took me 19 days to get a vote again. That was yesterday and now the same thing is happening again.
