The Steem blockchain is currently being attacked by a central authority in order to take control of the witnesses. If you are not managing your witness votes, please consider setting @berniesanders as your witness voting proxy by clicking here to help restore the decentralization of Steem.

I see that as a good thing! It's long past time for Steemit Witnesses like @themarkymark to be removed because they have turned Steemit into nothing more than a cesspool of fraud and corruption, stealing money from the vast majority of Steemit members while at the same time filling their own greedy pockets.

The day that the last Steemit Witness is removed will be the first day of Steemit's rebirth...and a new beginning. The only problem I see is that Steemit Witnesses have not had their Steem Accounts forfeited, and the money they stole returned to its rightful owners...the Steemit community.

Since I dislike TheDouchyDouche a lot too, he is the only one of the top 20 I didn't cast a witness vote. You can still help Steem by voting the other witnesses and just leaving him out.

"You can still help Steem by voting the other the other witnesses and just leaving him out."

That is true! But I think we would all be much better off if most Steemit witnesses are removed. While @themarkymark may indeed be one of the worst Steemit witnesses, he is by no means the only scumbag who has used his power to downvote other members in order to boost his own curator rewards. This is something that many Steemit witnesses (and other high-reputation members) have done, and I think it's time to get rid of them all, or at least as many as possible. Sure, one bad apple may not spoil the whole barrel, but when the number of bad apples gets to the point that its very hard to tell the good from the bad, I think it is better to completely empty the barrel and start over.

Another reason why I think witness votes should expire.

I agree completely! I think that an annual vote for Witnesses would be a great thing. After all, imagine how many votes some of these witnesses have accumulated from members who have long ago left the Steemit platform for what ever reason. Allowing such witness votes to remain essentially means that without radical changes as we see happening now, it would be virtually impossible to get rid of long-time witnesses, no matter how corrupt they became. I think Justin Sun fully understood this, which is why Tron has made the changes that it has. One thing is certain...that it's time that corrupt members like @themarkymark and his squad of criminals, be totally removed from Steemit, or at least have their down-voting power diminished to zero. Again, I only wish that there was some way to take away their Steem and give it back to all the other members that they stole it from.

"My Idea:
"Reduce from 30 to only 5 votes the maximum amount each profile can cast."

I agree!

"Increase the Security Council size from 20 to 50 witnesses. It might make it a little harder to get a Hard Fork, but it's not impossible."

I agree!

"Set an expiration for casted votes."

Absolutely!

"Votes expire in a year or even 6 months."

Absolutely! I think 1 year would be good, as I indicated in my prior post.

"Votes can be renewed before expiration causing the expiration clock to reset."

Agreed! That way votes from past (or no longer active) members would automatically expire on their anniversary as they should.

"Proxy-delegations will not expire."

I'm not sure about that one! I'm not much in favor of anything that does not expire at some point. That reminds me too much of Supreme Court Justices who hold their positions for life, no matter how bad they become.

Proxy-delegation refers to setting another account to cast witness votes for you. But for it to work it still needs for the active account to whom the voting power was delegated to keep renewing it's votes. The idea is to end voting power from chained accounts without an active voter at the end, but it doesn't need to require renewal of the whole chain, just the voter at the end of it.
