Splinterlands Vouchers Selling for Over $20 Each!
Yesterday I posted about wondering how high VOUCHER prices will go and now we have our answer!
I have been one of the biggest bulls when it comes to expected demand for SPS and VOUCHERS in the Splinterlands Chaos Legion pre-sale, but the current market activity is defying my wildest dreams!
I expected the first few sales at Hive-Engine.com to be at a very high price, but did not expect so much demand to flood the market at prices above 30 Hive per VOUCHER! That's more than $22 USD each!
Take a look at these buy offers. Even at 24 Hive each there are people putting up orders for 284 and 457 Hive worth of VOUCHERS. Thousands of Hive are sitting on the buy side above a price of 20 Hive.
At the one-hour mark of sales, over $14,500 worth of VOUCHERS have been bought and sold.
After seeing the incredibly strong demand for VOUCHERs, I am very glad that I staked all of my SPS yesterday so I can try to sell into this price level. Interestingly, even with the price of VOUCHERs being so high, there has not been a flood of SPS getting staked as a result. We are still sitting at about 96 million liquid SPS, the same as earlier today.
My eyes are now turning to the SPS market as there should be a very large demand increase for staking SPS since the VOUCHER value is so high. For example, my 6157 staked SPS spun off 1.564 VOUCHER tokens today which are worth $35. This could make staking SPS a very profitable endeavor. Those 6157 SPS I have staked were worth about $5000 yesterday and if they spin off $35/day worth of VOUCHERs, that would be a monthly return of 21%! Obviously, I don't expect VOUCHERs to stay priced this high for the whole month, but...
if prices stay anywhere above 10 Hive per VOUCHER over the next month, I'll likely be selling my entire airdrop and use the proceeds to buy more packs (or specific cards) after the pre-sale is over.

Lots of money being made by those SPS stakers that are selling their VOUCHER tokens on the market. I find it hard to believe that the pre-sale benefits will make $20+ per pack worth it. That's over $20,000 just to get one guaranteed GF Limited Edition Promo plus 19 non-GF promos. !PIZZA

Why wouldn’t people just buy SPS instead? Seems strange. Paying so much for a voucher that only lets you buy a pack you can’t even open yet. Crazy times!
I actually expected SPS to rise sharply in value once people realized how valuable the VOUCHER drops are. So far, that isn't happening. Very strange indeed! I was hoping to get 1000 packs for Legionnaire status, but I don't have six-figures to buy the SPS required, nor do I want to spend $25,000+ to get the vouchers and packs. !PIZZA
Yeah, I'll probably be able to get around 100 packs or so. Not bad, but not awesome. 100 and I'd get a couple of those promo cards, at least.

It is a crazy price but as tempted as I am to sell my vouchers, the last communication said that the vouchers would be used to buy packs even after the pre-sale or have they changed that already?
The devs have talked about that during the AMA sessions, but it doesn’t sound like they have made a final decision yet. If they require VOUCHER tokens after the presale, they would have to extend the airdrop period I would think… unless there is some other way they plan to distribute more VOUCHERs.

The question is, what impact on the SPS price will it have, when people buy packs with SPS?
It should go down, shouldn't it?
If demand for SPS increases as people need to buy more of it to purchase their packs with the discount, it should increase the price for SPS. The supply of liquid SPS continues to drop every day so that should also contribute to an SPS price increase. The devs have indicated they will not be selling the SPS used to buy backs packs back into the market quickly so as to collapse the price either.
