SPS Governance Proposal - Add SPS Rewards for Guild Brawls

A proposal is being put forth to a vote of all staked SPS token holders to decide whether or not to add SPS token rewards for guild brawls and how those rewards should be allocated. Per the SPS whitepaper there are 2.5M SPS allocated for guild brawls per month (reducing at a rate of 1% per month) and this post will detail the proposed distribution of those tokens for community review and approval.

The proposed breakdown of the overall reward pool by brawl tier is shown in the following table:

When it comes time to pay out rewards at the end of a Brawl, the SPS per Tier per Brawl Cycle (shown in the table above) gets divided equally by the number of individual Brawls in each Tier for any given Cycle. At this point, fractions are rounded to 3 decimal places. The result is the prize pot for each Brawl.

Next, we determine the share of the prize pot that each participating guild gets, which shall be proportional to the pts of the guild vs total pts for that particular Brawl. Hence SPS rewards will be greater for guilds that get the most points from battles. This is almost the same as the method for dividing the Crown pot, except there is no bonus amount for the Top 3 guilds as there is for Crowns.

Finally, the SPS awarded to each guild gets divided by the number of Frays for that Tier, to arrive at the max amount of staked SPS that can be given to each participating guild member.

Each guild member’s staked SPS share is determined following the same rules as Merits. Namely, for a given Brawl, only guild members who submit at least 75% of their battles (i.e. have 25% or less unsubmitted battles) are eligible to receive the full SPS amount for rewarding individual participation. Otherwise, the amount of SPS given is proportional to the number of battles submitted; for example, submitting 3/5 battles = 60% of the full amount of SPS.

In addition to the distribution above, some questions we have heard from the community on this proposal are below:

What happens if there are only a small number of guilds in a given tier?

If there are fewer than 10 guilds actively participating in a brawl tier, then the total rewards available for that tier will be reduced proportionately. For example, if there is only a single guild in a tier, then only 10% of the total SPS rewards would be available for that tier. Similarly, if there are 3 guilds in a tier, then 30% of the rewards would be available, etc. until there are 10 or more guilds at which point 100% of the rewards are available.

There are still significant advantages to moving up and being one of the first guilds to move into a new tier, but we feel that this restriction adds reasonable upper limits in these cases.

Please note that if there is only a single guild in a brawl tier, the current behavior of the guild getting automatically moved down to the nearest non-empty tier will still occur. So such a guild will still have the fun of brawling, in addition to an extra SPS reward. This is another way to ensure guilds do not feel hesitant about moving up in tiers, and recognizes the phenomenal achievement of a guild that has beaten all others to become the first to reach a higher tier.

Where does SPS that goes unallocated go?

Unearned SPS will be sent to the DAO. Future proposal votes could allocate this SPS in any way upon which the DAO agrees.

Great job of listening to the community and addressing the concerns. I feel the distribution is very fair and balanced properly and takes into consideration ALL levels of guild play. I also like how you addressed the payout for tiers that might not have at least 10 teams.

I'm excited for brawls and think everyone will get very serious very quickly once this passes!

This does sound very interesting and positive. I think it would be great for players to be able to donate a portion of their allocation unstaked to the Guild and that to be enabled to upgrade buildings. It seems to me that this would encourage non fee guilds and burning of the newly allocated tokens.

I can get behind this. I was lucky enough to play in some of the first tier 3 brawls. It would be good to have some incentive to do it again.

I'm a little ambivalent.
on the one hand i want sps, but on the other hand i don't know if that's such a good thing, because when it comes to money, worse players are quickly exchanged.

and you feel twice as bad if you were the worst in the round etc etc

As this was planned in the whitepaper, I don't really understand what we are voting on?
If we voted no, is this whitepaper chapter obsolete?
What would happen to the guild reward portion of SPS then?

I think the vote is on the proposed distribution of the rewards in each tier, as given in the first table.

Since only participating brawlers get the sps spoils, is it possible to increase the numbers of frays in each tier?

As it is, in competitive guilds, almost half of the guild members have to sit out half of the brawls.

At least tier 5 brawls should be able to accommodate full guild, so that all the guild members can participate in each brawl.

Something like:
tier 1: 13+1 frays
tier 2: 16+2 frays
tier 3: 18+3 frays
tier 4: 21+4 frays
tier 5: 25+5 frays

What about split up your guild to a second wing one? Buy DEC, build up a Guild and move over your Friends that are not participating in the Main Guild to your secondary Guild so the Players can play the Brawl and Earn? Just my 2 cents to this.

It would be nice if this wasn't auto-staked.
Even if it was a kind of balance, along the lines of

I didnt like how we were being funneled into guilds with the merits received in chests but now im kinda glad they did that. I do wish it was a bit easier to get through the first few lvls of buildings (fewer crowns not cheaper DEC wise) but I get that if you change it now it kinda devalues all the time the older guilds have put in.

Actually would be neat to implement right off the bat a way to delegate to guilds some SPS for growth instead of dealing with people being annoyed later if someone wants to implement it in their guilds.

I wouldnt delegate sps to a guild unless im a owner lol. learned my lesson contributing a million to it and later have to rotate i just left started my own and bought some much better i can have a entire guiild to my self to and all the partners can we play all frays win all the rewards and have 1 player play all accounts in the guild. So we all get a entire guilds worth of rewards.

Meant the delegation is separate as a guild improvement fee taken from brawls no donations just a flat guild fee. Tier 4 or 3 could do it since people make more in brawls than Tier 1 and 2 people who would move to other guilds

Wish i realized joining a guild was dumb a while ago should have just made my own bc then i cant be kicked or told to sit out lol. So i did it just a little late and were going big now trying to get to 50 Guilds and buying up leveled guilds so we dont need to waste time if i can find them some are willing to sell bought two leveled for only 150K dec lol thats liike what 15 dollars

And i was so dumb to starting and leveling a guild isnt even that expensive or buying them for that cheap even 100 for a leveled guild is fine bc it will make that back in no time.

It's good to have more rewards in brawls but it's bad to have another way to distribute SPS even if it was in the white paper. Not sure where to vote on this one.

This is why im just using NFTy if i can make x per account on average and i have 1500 players i only need like 10 bucks in profit per day includign bots and brawls. That seems pretty doable

At what point are we going to realize endlessly printing more rewards only dilutes their value. SPS has been steadily falling in value since day one, it had a slight uptick when they could be redeemed for new packs but once that fell off they immediately went back to steady declines.

We need to cease new reward allocations and just printing tokens and instead look for actual use cases to give the tokens value.

This is very discouraging and if the trend continues I can't imagine too many people will stick around and that could start a domino of liquidations where nobody wants to be left holding the bag.

while it's good to toss out rewards for guilds, the current SPS inflation is way too high. We have to reduce SPS inflation by a lot if we want any kind of sustainable price action. Maybe in the future

There is a point where it stops and the inflation wont be to bad once everyone realizes basically SPS is going to benefit from a lot of the new games as well from having players buy it in GLS to earn more GLX and get SPS staking and vouchers etc.

that is a good point, but I actually thought about this when doing the analysis. My hunch is that the GLS game(s) are not as popular (yet) which is probably why it will not affect SPS price too much. But I might be wrong :) The team is definitely still figuring everything out and I have confidence that they will

now is when you get really get alot of GLX from the begining need to stake the max you can to get the most then stake GLX. Plus node drops will be sweet

BC they have 15 games planned possible and all around sports much easier to get players that would do this rather than play a game that dosnt earn. I just think sports has a better following. Im happy with all of it bc i own stock to so its hard for me to make decisions lol I am on all three sides a player, shareholder of spl corp which owns it all and sps and glx holder as well as assets in all three spl , td which i think will be a hit to, and glx

There deffinaltly will be some dec pump when lux vega comes out since it is priced in dec and vouchers which im not a fan of i would rather just buy with cash lol I dont want to buy millions of dec and hold it now its not something i want id rather plow it into sps to get glx and stake that to get more glx as well as other income prodcuing assets like cheap nodes on he, land plots, another 1.5 millon sps next week to get right up to the level i want in the begining to max out my glx earnings and own a substantial portion of that which i think will be more popular with a different larger crowd splilling into spl to and they will want sps bc it earns glx and sps why wouldnt they want both and then may try out the other games if there misson is to earn they will play or buy assets rent as the roi is pretty good here
