A Runner "supplying" Swiftness to Yodin! - Share Your Battle [SPLINTERLANDS]
Supply Runner
This week’s character, the Supply Runner, is a typical Splinterlands card that gains in utility the more we climb up the leagues. At the base level, substitutes for a 6 Mana Cost basic archery unit are numerable. However, the Supply Runner starts to get interesting once it reaches Level 5 (Silver Cap) to unlock the Swiftness ability.
The higher I climb up, the more I tend to appreciate Speed in this game. With more and more powerful monsters on the field, having the opportunity to fire first is a substantial advantage. Moreover, being in the process of building up my Life Deck, I can see it synergizes well with General Sloan’s +1 Ranged attack buff but also, Time Mage’s ability, Slow.
Finally, when the Supply Runner gets to its highest level, Level 10, a second ability Strengthen is unlocked, adding another string to its bow. Obviously, I don’t play in Champion’s leagues (yet), so I’m not sure how useful it is, but it certainly can’t hurt. This archery unit also gets one more Ranged attack two levels before being maxed out, making it a total of 3.
Gold Top Leaderboard
To complete this week’s challenge, I went on to look for a battle from the Gold Leaderboard, the league I am currently playing in. The main reason is that I currently don’t have a leveled-up Supply Runner, yet I do think that the Supply Runner really shines when it gets Swiftness.
Ruleset: Super Sneak
Mana Cap: 48
League: Gold I

In this battle, it was a Yodin VS Yodin confrontation. They were both at Level 3, which made the battle relatively fair. The synergy between Yodin Zaku and the Supply Runner is pretty obvious. This Legendary Summoner buffs up by 1 the Ranged attacks while also giving all friendly monsters the ability Blast.
A Level 3 Legendary Summoner can summon:
Commons: up to Level 8
Rares: up to Level 6
Epics: up to Level 5
Legendaries: up to Level 3
To begin with, the archery units @kentuckyjoles chose were already very fast. Spark Pixies, Supply Runner, Tower Griffin, and Lava Launcher didn’t really need the Speed boost from the Runner in this specific battle. That being said, it would have been key if the opponent went with a similar lineup without the Supply Runner.
The opponent, @flixfox, certainly wanted to take advantage of the Super Sneak Ruleset. There was not a single archery unit in the team put in place. On the contrary, the team was heavily oriented towards Melee monsters, with three of them providing the Demoralize debuff to potentially reduce the opposition Melee’s attacks.
The issue, however, was that those debuffs didn’t quite work as intended because the opposition was counting on Ranged units to inflict most of the damage, not Melee monsters. Furthermore, relying on a heavy Melee lineup had another issue, their relatively slow speed.
The two Melee monsters of @kentuckyjoles were only there to take the hits. The Taunt strategy with Magnor worked well to counter the effects of the Super Sneak ruleset. On top of that, Chain Golem was placed as the off-tank to absorb the blast damage with its Shield ability.
In a nutshell
I like the fact that those Share Your Battle Challenges provide me with an opportunity to watch higher players’ games and learn from them, especially when I can’t come up with an interesting battle myself.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this battle as I did.
See you in the next challenge!
