# Splinter Stats Season 56 Report Card

avatar

@gregory-f

Last Friday I gave my two weeks notice at work. This is a job that I've had for over 21 years and now I'm leaving it to play Splinterlands full time. The interesting part is two other players in my guild have also stopped working in the last two weeks and are working for themselves on Splinterlands and Hive. This is the amazing transition that Splinterlands is enabling. I'm so excited to be a part of this and thankful for the freedom it is giving us.

I admit it was a bit of a struggle to make it into Diamond League Tier II this season. I knew I wasn't going to be able to make it any higher and the DEC rewards were getting a little thin so I just stopped battling. I did win 132 Ranked matches this season which is a big improvement over last season when I only had 94 match wins.

I battled in two tournaments this season and placed 3rd in one of them, the Silver A-Game tourny. That got me a prize of 1000 DEC. This season I plan to enter a few more, but I will be very selective in the one I join.

Reward cards are one of the highlights of Season 56. I got a Rare Gold Foil card in one of my Daily Quest Reward Chests. Otherwise nothing too exciting. Reward cards are getting to be few and far between now that they are quickly going out of print one after another.

I spent some time during the season and placed a lot of cards I wasn't using in match play on the rental market. The results were fantastic! I ended up doubling my rental income this season over last season. I expect to place a few more rentals on the market this season. I am also learning to spend a few minutes every day tweeking my existing rentals and would not be surprised to see this seasons income double again from this level.

I currently have over 30,000 SPS staked and my Staking rewards have now become a major part of my SPS airdrop. I know when they finally implement the new staking system my Staking Rewards will probably go down so I'm trying to gather all I can until then.

What @aggroed, @yabapmatt and the rest of the Splinterlands team have created is truly amazing. I will always be grateful to them for the hard work, creativity and dedication that they put in the last 3+ years. The explosive growth Splinterlands has experienced over the last few months have been breathtaking and I expect it to continue for some time to come.

That's incredible!

You're able to make your weekly or monthly wage just from Splinterlands? Is it the SPS rewards or the DEC rewards that you're able to pay your bills with?

You and I have a very similar sized collection... but you're getting 3 times the rental DEC as me... I guess I really should work out which cards I play with and which ones I don't and be far more generous to the rental market. Thanks for sharing all of this... definitely makes me think...

It's the SPS that has more than replaced my wages. Since I'm still working until the end of next week I haven't had to sell and SPS yet and probably won't for a little while to come. I'd much rather Stake all the SPS I can and live off of savings for a while.

That's absolutely amazing! Congratulations!

I have to say that I never, ever expected SPS to be as valuable as it's been so far. I just thought it was going to help us vote on X or Y... not become pro gamers and live off it. Just amazing.

It's incredible, I can't imagine how wide your deck is.
How do you do to play full time, what do you mean, I rarely go down to 75% the energy

Well, I meant that instead of working a full time job, I'll be spending more time on Splinterlands and Hive. Playing is only a part, reading and creating posts will also be a part of it.

I understand, I have not yet published by splintertalk. what would be the difference to do it by Dpeak or ecency?

They should all be about the same. All are just different front ends to the Hive blockchain. Splintertalk just restricts it's displayed posts to #splinterlands and #spt tagged posts and displayes rewards in SPT instead of $$.

Thank you very much for removing that doubt ✌️

It takes me just 1 to 2 hours to play #Splinterlands and do an average of 25 Ranked Battles per day. I can join only 1 to 2 Tournaments per week and each Tournament usually takes me less than an hour.

Currently, DEC right now is pegged at $0.001 but its current price is usually at or near $0.007.

I would like to know how many hours your "full time" Splinterlands gaming will take per day.

Well right now playing full time is a bit of an overstatement. I play for about 1-2 hours a day, but I spend additional time reviewing my rental cards and making Splintertalk/Hive posts. Then there is time spent curating on Splintertalk/Hive. After next week I hope to be spending a lot more time on all of it.

I personally don't rent out my own cards, because I find looking at prices tiresome. 🤯 I just want to play Ranked and Tournament battles most of the time. 😏

Congrats on moving away from traditional work. I feel as many that are part of Splinterlands are on the cusp of have having that option. Looking at your stats above you are doing great. Rental income, wow, I'm not even sure what to say about that. The amount "extra" that can be earned from renting cards is amazing. I posted up a bunch of cards the last day of the previous season and earned 20,000 DEC on that day alone. That amount dropped drastically after seasons end so I got some decisions to make.

Yes, the last couple of days you could get some serious DEC from gold foils and legendary cards. Everyone was scrambling to get their Power score up so they could move up a tier. I expect it will be the same for the end of this season and many more to come.

Congratulations on taking the plundge. I've been working for myself for about 5 years now and have to say that I love it. Yeah you can work long hours and at times worry about where the next client / pay day will come from but I wouldn't swap it.
Having the freedom to take the kids to school, pick them up, and play golf or Splinterlands when I want is well worth any downside.
I hope you enjoy it and are very successful.

Thanks! I admit that it took a lot of work to convince my wife that this was a plausable plan. But I was tired of the grind and nothing to show for it.
