Shields UP and in the right position!
If you are starting playing Steemmonsters or you are earning experiences. One of the first important things is to learn, how you can use Monsters with Shield correctly.
Tank with Shield or with HEAL

That is one of the most important rules in the beginning. In every play, try to use Monsters with a shield or heal in the first position.
In the beginning, it´s easier for you to use Shield monsters. Why?
In the early levels has monsters small attack. If you have Shield on your monster, you are indestructible for monsters with 1 melee or arrow attack.
How is the shield working?
With the shield, your monster reduces enemy attack and if the enemy attack is 1 you will take 0 dmg.
Shield or Heal skills on your tank
If you use to shield you can´t heal yourself but you will take much less damage. If you use Heal you will take big damage, but you can heal yourself.
When you want to use Tank with Heal, use the one with much HP. Because if you have a monster with low HP, it can be dead in the first or second round before you will heal yourself.
A very good tactic is to use Tank with Shield, Armor and big HP and have another monster with tank heal skill in your squad.
Advanced players
I personally use my great Frost Giant with great HP, Armor and Shield and use no tank heal monsters.
Why?
I prefer big AOE MAGIC DMG and Giant can stand first rounds be himself. If you have in your squad Ruler of the Seas
and Pirate Archer,
your Magic AOE will be great because of your Blast skills. When you combine it with rare Summoner Alric Stormbringer
you will have +1 on spell dmg.
Try to figure out how to use it ;-).
Shield your last position
When you play in a higher rank, try to use monsters with the shield in the last position too. Many monsters have the sneak ability and you can really destroy these players with great defends.
Try to use Cyclops. It´s rare but the unbelievable great card in some situations. Try to use it against players who play monsters with sneak skill.

Very nice, but I believe that when Lord Ariantus comes into play this logic can change a little, or not?... Could you comment ?
You have right, but at the beginning from Bronze to Silver 1 I have met Lord Ariantus only 2 times in the history. That's why I have mentioned in my first articles about Steemit to play 2 elements. I prefer Water and Earth or Water and Fire. You can see what type of monsters your player use in the last games and if you see Lord Ariantus you can easily change your squad. But this is for advanced players :-)
Really and in the minor leagues the Lord is not that strong! I am a beginner, but I learn fast, so you will see me ingeniously beating some very powerful player and next then losing and committing the biggest bullshit, so I like very much your articles, because I still need to learn the basics! :D

Shield is my favorite ability. It can often make your tank withstand a horde of melee monsters.
