Splinterlands Art Contest - Week 277 - Larissa Kerato

Greetings, people. Another week means another entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest - although the last week or two have been quite busy because of other non-splinterlands-art-contest art submissions, a good thing to see on Hive for sure.

For this week's contest, I chose to draw Larissa Kerato - yes I've been going at it with the "purple girls" lately. I think I've reached a certain point of drawing something satisfactory to my taste in the purple-ish setting and I've been trying to conduct little experiments and variations in the same color palette.

Anyway, here's a breakdown of how it all went down:

The Process

Flat to Complex

I started with a flat color as the base and built on top of it. Adding more layers of details and shades using other colors to make it look more complex - pretty standard stuff. It's quite amusing to me how I wasn't aware of such intricacies before picking up the pen and starting drawing.

The Background

As always, I mostly use hair or eye colors or their variations (sometimes complimentary colors too) as the base color for the gradient background color. Same story here, I gave her eyes and it was then I figured out what I wanted to do differently this time.

Sparkles and Magic?

I decided to draw up some artifacts around her to resemble her magic, it was pretty basic at first, but I set my mind to giving it more details this time around, and as you can see in the final result, I might have gone a little overboard even, too.

The Result

It was a fun experiment to work with and focus on the details of her magic this time around. Background and face/hair have been my go-to to add details lately, but I guess magic sparkles can give great effects too.
I hope you enjoyed this week's entry,
and I'll see you in the next post in a couple days,
cheers~~
