# Got a new strategy...! - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 32 Report Card

Two season's ago I tried a different strategy where I essentially waited for the last couple of days of the season, and then was going to stomp through a bunch of matches I was overpowered in to get an incredible win rate to boost my way to a high league ranking.
That is..... not what happened.
In truth, I struggled in those last couple of days to build up any sort of winning streak and so ended the season lower than usual and with a 1/3 as many loot chests.
Last season I tried a different strategy.
I wasn't going to worry about winning streaks, league rankings, ladders or anything apart from loot chests.
The goal was to earn at least 5 daily focus loot chests - that's it. It didn't matter if I lost way more than I won, as long as I won enough to earn those 5 loot chests I was happy.
This strategy worked really well for me... it gave me a daily goal, and it meant that I ended up with the highest seasonal loot chest amount ever.
I didn't always stop at 5 loot chests, if I was doing well or having fun I just went for more... but the goal was to get at least 5 every day.
I also found that when I played around 8pm my time, I tended to win a bit more. I don't know why, it was just a trend that I noticed.

I've completely swapped. Now Modern is an absolutely struggle and Wild is really fun.
My collection is way more suited to Wild, I don't have enough Untamed or Chaos Legion cards to be strong in Modern, but for a while there it was a much easier game for me.
I'm now in danger of sinking to the darkest, hardest to escape depths of Modern, so I'll have to play way more this season to bump me up... but you can see that the Win/Loss ratio in Modern is brutal.
I'm still not 100% sure why Modern is so hard. I assume it's to do with the Bots and Battle Helpers being banned from Modern... and I don't know if this sudden difficulty is related to accounts having to climb up (which would be temporary) or people just being way better than bots.

Way more excited to get 220 reward cards instead of 80. I'm definitely going to continue this strategy for the foreseeable future. Interesting that my SPS is down... maybe I just got more cards?

Rentals are still slowly sinking... but I'm not putting any effort into managing my rentals until Land 1.5 comes out and shakes everything up.
@kiokizz - is the SPS Report section missing?
I have to say that things have been pretty alarming in the Splinterlands world lately. I think the restructure and layoffs are generally good, especially if Splinterlands Inc only has 6 months of runway cash left. I've always respected Matt's approach to things, so I'm excited to see how his CEO efforts go.
I'm definitely worried about Rebellion being released before Land 1.5. I'm not super sure how much demand there is out there for Rebellion, and I'm a little worried that the new game mechanic that's been teased will dramatically decrease the value of all the previous editions.
The demand for Chaos Legion was so strong... but now we're in a spot where there is still 2.7 million packs available on the secondary markets with packs selling for just over $1. Do many people need new cards to fill out their collections? If so, what would make people buy new $5 packs over older $1 packs?
I could be totally wrong... but given the sale rate of Riftwatchers it does seem like the community might be a little tapped out of funds. Still, I don't have all the data and information that Splinterlands Inc has, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I do think that really the Splinterlands DAO should effectively pay for services that Splinterlands Inc provides... that opens the door for other developers to also contribute to the platform and get paid by the DAO as well... similar to how the Hive DHF works.
Regardless, the rest of this calendar year should be very interesting.

I really struggle in the early part of the season too, right now I am just winging it between wild and modern just trying to scrap one daily chest in silver.
My season ended like the Brisbane Lions and Bronco's, good games but defeated in the end !LOL I only watched the Lions but I could not believe both Brisbane teams lost, I suppose they did well to get there!

Ah, I didn't know about the Broncos. I was half-heartedly cheering for the Lions because they beat the Blues to get there... and everyone in Victoria loves to hate the Pies.
Haha, as soon as I get a couple of losses in Wild, I immediately try Modern, and then when that gets hard, I go straight back to Wild. I'm no where near playing 50 games a day so I always have plenty of energy to spare.

I think that every strategy has to be weighted by its purpose. Short term speculation or long term result and eventually speculation?
Depending on what brings the most result, different strategies can be evaluated as well
You have done well that you have changed the way you play it is very beneficial and the more games a person is losing the lower his losing rank and the more games a person starts. Best of luck for the next season.
