# The thing about bots... - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 13 Report Card

@aussieninja

Hi everyone!

This season report card is for the season that ended about 14 days ago.
I love that the season report card has changed, particularly with the SPS report... and I'm looking forward to getting into that in more detail.

There has always been anger at the bots situation in Splinterlands, but I honestly do think it's increased lately. People aren't happy that bots are extracting value from the game and dumping reward cards on the market.

I've also definitely noticed that I'm doing worse and worse as time goes on... and the change to increase the rewards in the higher leagues definitely made a big difference there... and potentially I'm doing worse because bots are getting more sophisticated, but the thing is... they are still only bots.

The bot owner still has to purchase the cards they need to compete (although, maybe easier with Lux Vega now), still has to manage their ECR, and still has to outsmart a human. Bots have to go for card decks that are optimized to win as often as possible... but this potentially means they are more predictable as well.

I really should spend some time working out how the bots are actually programmed so that I can work out the best way to beat them... but I do worry that if the Splinterlands team banned bots somehow, you'd get a huge amount of assets suddenly dumping on the markets.

I don't know what percentage of total assets would be dumped, but you'd have to assume it's a fair percentage.

The main thing that I don't think people really take into consideration when raging against bots is the wait time for matches. I assume without bots the players would be waiting way way way longer for a matchup, and matchups would be fairly uneven way more often.

The fact that I can get a matchup within a minute or two regardless of what time I play is pretty amazing.

My performance for Season 13 was so similar to Season 12! 3297 vs 3303. Amazing.

My win/loss ration for Season 12 was "1.25 (89/71)" - so 160 games versus 222 games. Clearly more efficient in Season 12.

Playing 62 more games, with 26 more wins meant than Season 12 meant that while my place in the ladder was about the same, my rewards were significantly different.

My SPS Ranked Play Wins rewards for 89 wins was 94.972... more than half as much as my 115 wins. While SPS was a lot more... I actually earnt less value overall this season.

Season 12 got me:

🟣 775 DEC

🟡 14540 CREDITS

⭐ 196.167 SPS

The main difference was winning 2 chaos packs and 1 legendary card in Season 12.
Weird that with 26 less wins in Season 12, I won 35 cards total and with 115 wins in Season 13 I won 36. I got way more SPS, legendary and alchemy potions of course, but the extra wins didn't net any more cards.

Definitely goes to show that being efficient can really work in your favour.

Love love love this new SPS Report @kiokizz! Well done!

My overall NET SPS is very similar to last season : 12059.548 vs 12265.515 - but it's interesting to see where it all comes from. I didn't realise that my LP SPS was actually greater than my staking rewards. Interesting!

I'm surprised the Tower Defense rewards are so high considering I've only got 131 packs.
I'm not personally super keen on the Tower Defense game myself... I just much prefer PvP to PvE... but I'll definitely give it a shot when it comes out.

I am very excited that Brawls are giving SPS out now too... that's really exciting and my guild has definitely stepped up and taken brawls more seriously since the change.

I think there is still lots to be excited about in Splinterlands.
I'm excited for Chaos Legion to sell/burn out and I'm excited to get 3 more CL airdropped summoners to change the meta (and make it harder for bots, haha). I'm definitely keen to see how Splinterlands goes in 2023! Super excited and a little nervous about land too.

Battling the bots !LOL do you ever come up again accounts or people you know? I don't think I have ever battled against an account name I recognize in bronze or silver 3.

I get plenty in diamond, but there are a lot more unfamiliar names now, which I suspect are mostly bots. Also, a lot of the "familiar names" are running bots too, which is sad.

I haven't been devastated by ol mate Tarazkp for a while... obviously I need to lift my game a lot to hang out.

Oh thank you and no worries. Last week we had an ice storm that froze all our pipes, and then our well pipes burst in the thaw... and then immediately as I got that fixed there was cyclone winds and a tree fell on the powerlines in my driveway. I literally have snapped power cables in my front yard... I'm writing this at work... so, um, peakd fun is so far down my list of concerns at the moment. I'm getting pretty good at living without power, wish it wasn't winter though.

Haha, is a bot battle a bottle?

Yeah, I reckon about half the time I come up against recognize whether from comments on Hive or just from Splinterlands over the last couple of years in tournaments or whatnot... but when I get shunted back down to Gold at the start of each season I don't run into recognizable accounts that often.

Although, I've battled @bobaphet 3 or more times this season... and I don't think we've ever bumped into each other ever before. So that's been fun.

Hope the seasons cards are not affected by the current bleed in the crypto market

In Sprinterland many bots running thats not good for sprinterland users and growth. Hope team remove all bots soon. I have decided to buy some gold cards and also invest some money in sps and wait for the bull market.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with this. Would a new user be able to tell the difference if their opponent is a bot or a human? I think for most users being able to get a match quickly is far more important than who their opponent is.

Personally I think removing bots would be a bad idea for Splinterland... even though they are probably responsible for me doing less and less well over time.

i suffer that one time , i just played the game like 5 minutes after an update and there were 0 bots and the game was struggling really hard to find a match , it was not playable at all... i got frustrated to have to wait 5+ minutes for a match that last 30 seconds....
