Fifty feet of Crap!
Fifty feet of Crap
The problem we are trying to solve is hard and circular in Splinterlands! Yes, its been a while I have written about the game and it is time for some reflection towards the team and the community so that they don't go look for Fabio! If you don't know the reference; below is Billy Beane for you from Moneyball..
The problem we're trying to solve is that there are rich teams and there are poor teams. Then there's fifty feet of crap, and then there's us. It's an unfair game. And now we've been gutted. We're like organ donors for the rich. Boston's taken our kidneys, Yankees have taken our heart. And you guys just sit around talking the same old "good body" nonsense like we're selling jeans. Like we're looking for Fabio. We've got to think differently. We are the last dog at the bowl. You see what happens to the runt of the litter? He dies.

Above is the price of the Grain and Grain Total Supply. We have 11B grains with nothing to do with it, and therefore the price of grain is in the toilet! Below 8 DEC for a 1000 grain, and it is the all time low.

Our daily surplus is 30M net grain and with nothing to do with it. You saw the CEO's message that we are cutting cost big time, about 60%, but while that is good, it is only the cost side of the balance sheet. The revenue side of the balance sheet needs attention. Last I checked the Verico land cards only sold $30K worth. That is 6 days worth of expense in the previous model, and 15 days worth of expense based on the new model. Neither of that will make us rich :)

So now what?
So our community, which is active as ever with 'ideas' and poor with money, coming up with many solutions trying to influence the team.
Paul says: I think the next Core Set should have Ranked play cards and Lands Cards that are useful with Buildings.
What?
What does land cards do exactly? Produce more resource...right? Look above, we don't need resources. We need items and spells so that we can use those resources. If you produce more and more resources, and sell cards that produces more resources, the prices will only go down, because our people sells anything at any cost.
We have people who sells Premium Potions for 1 cent! LOL.
We have people who are willing to rent SPS for 3% APR! What?
Every new regular core set is adding PP to our ecosystem which we don't really need, but team needs the sale .... why? Because they are a card company, and only thing they can sell are cards. Okay fine: but make the cards desirable please! Force use to buy them, make them expensive, not cheap. Make the rewards more valuable so that we want to buy valuable cards.

No, I am not shitting on every new idea. I am trying to point out the really stupid ones.
I enjoyed the original land cards, why, because it consumed boat load of resources. Promise was, the excess production that will follow would not be much because in 3-4 months, early in 2026, we will have massive sinks created in the land game using buildings. Well we are behind!
So, now we have massive resources and nothing to do with it.
I am saying cutting cost is not enough. We have to deliver new sinks right now! In fact, we should have delivered new sinks 4 months back. Please deliver products and make some strong decisions that people will hate. Why? Well, that probably means those decisions are good ones.
Dave: You can't please everyone and find a middle ground. Compromise is essentially an average. You can do average between 51, 55, and 59. That number will be meaningful. However, you can't do an average between 51, 6700, and 761260...that average is meaningless. So let us not do that. There is no way to average or compromise when the community requirements are vastly different.
@clayboyn yes, if people throw a f*cking fit over it, so be it!

Sounds like you are really frustrated with the state of land in Splinterlands. Land has been an albatross in Splinterlands and I have pretty much given up on it...
It is the opposite, in fact. I have the highest amount of land active compared to my entire history.
I have 35M DEC staked on land and increasing.
People typically judge others by comments, and not their actions...
I see... So you are still activating land despite resource prices falling? Wasn't grain the only profitable resource to produce recently and you just mentioned that it is over supplied and at record low price?
The prices are dynamic. Due to the low prices of grain other resources are profitable, as it cost less to produce other resources :)
Sadly, I have kind of removed myself from the game even more than I had in the past. It makes me sad, but I just don't have the resources to keep up with it like I did in the past. The prices don't help either.
I am more involved than ever, and still buying stuff
