Splinterlands has taken a major step forward with the release of its SPS Validator software! 🎉

This means that all SPS transactions will now be validated through a decentralized network of SPS Validator nodes—marking a huge milestone for decentralization and something the team has been working toward for years.

I’m excited to be part of this movement! My SPS Validator Node is up and running, actively contributing to the security and stability of the network. But before diving into the setup, let me introduce myself.

Who Am I?

By day, I’m a Software Test Engineer – my job is to break things engineers build (in a constructive way, of course 😆). Testing is my passion, and I love pushing systems to their limits.

I’ve lived my whole life in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 – a beautiful, flat country that I enjoy exploring on my bike or running, the fields around me are normally filled with Dutch cows 🐄 (in the summer).

My Journey in Splinterlands

I joined Splinterlands in November 2021, during the hype when Untamed sold out and Chaos Legion was about to arrive. I wasn’t a big spender, but I invested consistently over time, and the game slowly grew on me. Fast forward to today – I still play every single day. 💙

Beyond playing, I love the open API that Splinterlands provides, which allows third-party integrations. Over the years, I’ve built several open-source tools for the community.

My Contributions to the Splinterlands & Hive Community 🛠️

🔹 BeeBalanced – A tool that helps track Hive user behavior and combines it with an estimated value of SPL assets.

🔹 Card Distribution Tracker – Built during the un-lock period of CL, this tool tracked unbounding progress and allowed users to compare it to other editions. Still valid for cards distribution and unbound progress of rebellion.

🔹 HiveSQL tutorial – simple guide on how to make these application, love to share my knowledge with others (tutorial post).

🔹 Splinterlands Stats Tracker – An open-source tool that monitors your Splinterlands assets daily and helps track your battles and holdings over time.

Why Did I Set Up an SPS Validator?

I love a good challenge, and when SPS Validator nodes were introduced, I wanted to see how easy it was to run one. I took an "old" machine, still an Intel i5 3.40GHz with 1TB diskspace and 16Gb Memory. Stripped out all the unnecessary power-consuming parts (e.g. video card), and got it up and running in a server setup.

The setup process was smooth, and huge props to the Splinterlands team for making it straightforward. 💪
