Splinterlands Awards 2022. Most Annoying Monster: Riftwing.

The Most Annoying Monster is a much debated award at the annual Splinterlands Monster Awards that took place last night but one monster came out on top. Death Splinter newcomer Riftwing won best most annoying monster after pipping Scavo Hirling and the Disintegrator to the post. Also up for the most annoying monster was the thorn summoner Mylor Crowling and the water tank who manages to avoid everything Serpent of Eld. But it was low mana no attack, no magic and no range monster Riftwing who won it in the end.
So why did Riftwing pip the other monsters in the game to win the coveted crown of most annoying monster.

So by looking at the card you would think it is weak enough. Put it out front as a pawn and hope it stays alive long enough for your back row to pack a few punches. But this is entirely not true. Riftwing is a survivalist. The leech ability is the key. Whenever a member of the opposition dies Riftwing cleans up like a vulture. The winged death creature is an excellence in execution at surviving especially in poison battles.

"Every other monster is decreasing by 2 every round and this fucker is feeding off the deaths of the opposition." said poison battle loser Tom who was on his way to a 20 battle winning streak until the relatively unknown bat type thing stole his glory.

"But along comes Riftwing with his no attack and he ends up being the last monster standing without even throwing a punch!!"

"He is a cockroach after the nuclear blast."
"Everyone else is dead but he's feeding off the radiation and loving life."
"That's what the Riftwing does, survives the longest."

"I just couldn't believe it," said one Splinterlands beginner.
"Everybody was getting poisoned but this guy had a 13 in his health which meant we had no chance."
"My team just fell away leaving that thing the last monster standing."
"It was so frustrating to watch."

Also decent in the equal opportunity category Riftwing fast became the most annoying card to play against.

"There are a few others that were fairly close to winning the coveted most annoying monster award. Scavo Hirling who keeps giving the shield back to his tank. The Disintegrator who uses his defensive technique of minusing 1 off an oppositions melee attack to take the life out of a battle.
"The Disintegrator is anti Splinterlands so to speak."
"The Mourinho, the Simeone,"
"That kind of defensive mindset."
"I roll my eyes up to heaven if I come across these two, I know I am in for a long battle chipping away at the opposition."

Other annoying monsters are basically anybody with the thorn ability especially that dam summoner Mylor Crowling who is a right old pain in the arse that gives all his crew the thorn ability.

"It is bad enough with one thorn ability monster but not bloody 5!!! claimed a seasoned Splinterlands fan.

The Serpent of Eld came close for a third year with his dodge ability that is a bit more dodgy than the other dodge monsters.

"The Serpent of Eld is like Mohammed Ali when he was against the ropes in his hayday. Ducking, weaving like a peacock. Avoiding everything doing a Bin Laden on it. If you can't catch me, you can't kill me. A level one Serpent could come out trumps against a level 8 tank if it wasn't careful.

"Haunted Spirit who is probably the all time most annoying card is happy to take a backseat this year with the Chaos cards coming into the fray.
"It's about time I handed the baton over."
"I am semi retired now."

"He's a good kid is our Riftwing who has added a new dynamic to the Death group and he goes everywhere with me."
"He's still just a child."
"He is also an enigma "
"How ironic that one of our best new monsters in the Death Splinter is a survivalist."
"Aren't we not all dead like???" laughed Haunted spirit before a fit of coughing.

"The Chaos crew are really after helping me take a back seat a bit as I was the most used card in the game I would say." boosted Haunted Spirit as he annoyingly healed himself mid sentence.

"He's getting big god bless him," as Haunted slips a crisp 5 euro note into Riftwings hand and tells him to go and buy sweeties for himself in the shop.

"Now that he is an award winner he will go from strength to strength"
