Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

It's been a pretty shocking past week to say the least. Credit Suisse got taken over UBS in an effort to prevent further contagion, and just before the markets closed for the weekend, we had signs of Deutsche Bank being the next target of a bank rout again. I would assume things will be clearer once everything reopens again tomorrow on a Monday? BTC still seems to be holding around the $28k levels although HIVE has gone down quite a bit to $0.39 after that pump. 😱🚀📈

The only thing for certain now is the uncertainty in the market. 🤣 For players who worry too much about their NFT assets on HIVE/Splinterlands, I think it's best to keep it simple and just take Splinterlands as a game to destress. At least that's the way I see Splinterlands.

On the Splinterlands dev side of the game, this past week has been pretty quiet overall. Most of the changes have already been touched upon in the previous weeks. Things to take note of though, are the changes in Energy having gone live, and the closed beta of Soulkeep aka Splinterlands Tower Defense. 😁

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 70th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks another weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

We're in the middle of the season now, so that means my life in Splinterlands is pretty routine. It's just a matter of grinding my daily focus chests and hoping for Lady Luck to shine way. My rewards are pretty average though, so I can neither cheer nor complain too much either way.

The new Promo card, Vruz, was available for purchase for everyone who had any staked SPS. 1 card per 1000 SPS staked to be accurate. Unfortunately, I did not even qualify for a single card purchase! 😭 I had made a decision some time back to convert all my SPS into other tokens on HIVE to fund other HIVE ventures, so I was pretty caught off guard.

However, thanks to a stroke of luck and a kind Samaritan in the form of @rentmoney, I was able to get my hands of 5 Vruz-es. 🎉 It was really generous of him to offer to purchase up multiple Vruz-es for quite a handful of people for just the base cost of a voucher. Thank you very much once again. 😍

I have to admit that I haven't really gotten the chance to really use Vruz yet. I find that unless he hits level 5, he is at best a low mana sacrificial unit. This could change in those super low mana rulesets of course. I'm sure he'll shine in the right conditions. Till then, as I play only with level 3 Summoners, I am unable to utilise his full power.

After level 5 is an entirely different story as he gets drastically increased speed and the amazing MARTYR ability. I will probably monitor the secondary market prices and eventually grab a few more for the day that comes when I finally reach that particular level of summoners. 😉

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

🏆💰🎁Splinterlands News🏆💰🎁

A roadmap was teased this past week, especially pertaining to the codename part called "Age of the Minotaur". To be specific, this "age" is slated to take place somewhere between mid March to May. That means this particular part is currently being worked on at this very moment.

One particular part drew my attention. Can you spot it? It's a MAJOR change in my opinion. One that will completely change how the game has been working all along.

RANKED BATTLE CHANGES — REPLACE CP Requirements with SPS Staking.

This is a HUGE change which deviates away from everything we've known about every single individual card's collection power!

Where access to higher leagues was once determined by your ranked points and how high your total collection power was, it is now being completely removed. Once this change goes into effect, STAKED SPS will be what determines how high one can rise up the ranks (in additional to your own rank score of course).

The exact figures haven't been released yet, but I can see this potentially having huge effects on the utility, and thus prices, of the SPS token. I've got to say that I am quite worried about this change though. It seems like all my collection power is now useless and I will have to start accumulating an undetermined amount of SPS on BOTH my accounts. This is definitely problematic. However, on the flip side, it should add quite a bit more value to SPS. This benefits all players in the long run.

In the mean time, perhaps it would be a wise move for everyone to start buying up SPS before it's price shoots up. 🚀📈

Another thing which caught my notice in the roadmap was about Soulkeep. For anyone who is confused about this name, this is basically what Splinterland Tower Defense has been officially named (as of now that is).

Soulkeep is now in closed beta. If you're one of those who made a large purchase of 500 Nightmare packs from the Splinterlands ingame store, you will be eligible to give it a go. I have seen quite a few reviews from beta testers and it has generally been pretty positive. I might need to actively make a greater effort to continue to gather more Nightmare packs once again on Hive Engine. On the plus side, those packs also gives daily airdrops of SPS. Not a bad deal eh? 🤑

As long as Splinterlands is able to meet it's roadmap objectives, I'm certain that the future is pretty bright. Most of the changes have been positive for the long term prospects of the game. We're in a terrible bear market now, but those that survive will reap the most rewards once we get over this phase. That means HIVE, Splinterlands, and even all of us users who're holding all the assets here.
