The Surprising Price Action of Land Cards and the strain on Splinterlands Land Resources!

(Edited)

Good morning Splinterfriends,

It's ya boi CaptainDingus here with an update on the price of Land Cards... and in case you've been living under a rock and don't know what those are:

image.png

These are the new "Land Only" Cards that Players can "Construct" from the Land Resources in Splinterlands...

Let me say that again in case you missed it...

Players... Can create Unique Items... from the Resources they earn In-Game... This is not being "Sold" by the company... given by the company... the company is not involved in ANY WAY... THIS IS 100% PLAYER DRIVEN ECONOMY AND REWARDS!!!

untitled.gif

In case no one else has said it or perhaps... if no one else has made a big deal out of it...

Well done @splinterlands and the team including @yabapmatt @davemccoy @cryptomancer and the rest of y'all who put in countless hours making this happen!

image.png

Ok... now with the congratulations out of the way...

Y'ALL STOP HOGGING THESE CARDS AND LET THE PRICES COME DOWN - I AM POOR AND NEED A LOT OF OXEN!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Seriously... Look at these Farmhand prices!!

image.png

$1.74/CC = 400 * $1.74 = $696/Max Copy 😨

Druid Prices also nuts... 😐

image.png

$4.99/CC = 115 * $4.99 = $573.85/Max Copy 😳

Oxen Prices are just as crazy too!! 😭

image.png

$13.40/CC = 46 * $13.40 = $616.40/Max Copy 😵

Undead Miners... I just can't even... ☠️

image.png

$84.99/CC = 11 * $84.99 = $934.89/Max Copy 🙃

image.png

That's both AWESOME - again... these are all PLAYER CRAFTED CARDS!!! But... at the same time... PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET THESE PRICES COME DOWN!!!

untitled.gif

With that being said... let's check out the Resource Prices on the incredible site from @beaker007:

Land.Spl-Stats

Grain Supply & Price

image.png

image.png

image.png

Two prices for consideration: 1 DEC = 59.593 Grain and 1,000 Grain = 16.78 DEC

Wood Supply & Price

image.png

Holy crap look at that!! Lets zoom in because that's a MASSIVE DROP and has some SERIOUS implications!!

image.png

We've dropped below the 500 Million mark and we're down from 850M -> under 500M!! That's 375M or so Wood that's just GONE!!!

Price wise, Wood has gone through the ROOF lately... but that's to be expected with such a Supply Shock...

image.png

image.png

Two prices for consideration: 1 DEC = 7.568 Wood and 1,000 Wood = 132.136 DEC

These prices, supply down, plus the Aura usage for Oxen/Miners... does NOT bode well for the price of Wagons this coming Airdrop... Now... we are still in a surplus... so that's good... but not like we were before!!

Let's go check out the Stone to see what kind of impact the Oxen have had on that...

Stone Supply & Price

image.png

You know... honestly that's not too bad... Wood saw a ~30% Drop and this is less than 10% so... that probably explains why the price of Stone hasn't spiked like Wood has...

image.png

image.png

Two prices for consideration: 1 DEC = 11.857 Stone and 1,000 Stone = 84.337 DEC

So... that's just insane... I mean think about it... Stone has 2.5x the PP of Wood... and Wood is over 150% the Value of Stone right now... That means all players with massive Wood Stores are just killing it right now!

untitled.gif

Let's go check on the price of Iron now...

Iron Supply & Price

image.png

image.png

Again we see roughly a 10% drop in supply, not nearly as bad as Grain or Wood though! I suspect this would be due to Farmhands and Druids not requiring Aura... I do hope this is being factored in to the next "Mint Event"...

Price wise, nothing crazy going on here either...

image.png

image.png

Two prices for consideration: 1 DEC = 2.861 Iron and 1,000 Iron = 349.539 DEC

This is a bit crazy too, remember: Iron has 10x the PP to obtain than Wood... so... think about this... Wood is 132 DEC/1k Wood... Iron should be 1,320 DEC/1k Iron... so that's another example of how bubbled Wood is...

According to all data... Wood should be about 35 DEC/1k Wood... not the 132 DEC/1k Wood it currently is!

Finally, let's take a look at the Aura Supply to see how much is still floating around...

Aura Supply

image.png

image.png

From this you can see the supply of Aura was at about 155M and is now about 115M so that means 40M aura or almost 30% of the Supply was used in the last week!

Conclusion

In conclusion, Splinterlands and the team have released a FANTASTIC element to the overall Game and Economy... this is a MASSIVE BENEFIT to the Players and as such, I believe it needed a whole post dedicated to the impact it has had and how it has been ONE HUNDRED PERCENT TO THE BENEFIT OF THE PLAYERS!!!

Another reason I wanted to write this was because I have been pretty salty about how terrible my luck has been with:

Alchemy Packs: 100+ openings and no Black Foils (or GFA or anything special)
Fortune Draws: Nothing, 0 of 6 with 2,427 Lucky Coins (82nd place)
Jackpot Draws: Nothing in the sense of "BF, GFA, BFA" but a few packs or Singles here and there

HOWEVER - this is a CRUCIAL piece of being a decent human imo... I can be SALTY AF at my luck... but still understand and appreciate how amazing other areas of the game are going!!!

I've been saying it for FOUR years... but one day... my luck WILL turn around... until then... y'all upvote this Post so I can go buy more Oxen... or send them to me lol... I need 40 more CC to make a max one.

That's all I have for you today folks!! Thank you for reading and I would LOVE for you to join me in game!!

Great overview of the land resources and land cards!

What are your plans for your land resources now? Saving for permanent buildings? Shifting plots to more wood production?

Well... I need to focus on getting more online and consolidating some of my holdings...

I am too spread out to be truly effective and should focus on that for the moment... aka converting some of these resources to better workers and then selling some more of my lower tier cards/plots to get higher tier Land/Workers

Important to note

  • That max common is higher than max rare and epic

  • Max rare is almost same price as max epic

I did make a mistake and updated the price of the Oxen - I copy/pasted the Druid data but forgot to update the actual multiplication but like you said it didn't change too much because they are the same.

I will mint as many as possible until they are done and try to finagle something so I can get 1 Max Oxen to go with my 1 Max Farmhand

Glad you like them Captain! Very good post explaining it too! I'm excited for what we can do in the future, this was a proof of concept and I'm pleased with the reception of the community! :)

Man, no luck in draws with all those entries?? I feel your pain; I can't complain at all, already received 1 rare BF and 1 rare GFA. The suply shock is great and land cards have been a great idea, but deifinitely a sink for the future increased production is needed, and it will get worse as the labour's luck start printing. But given that (FINALLY!!!) the team woke up to aesthetics, even skins and battle arenas land-crafted exclusively could be a way to tackle that. Godd luck on the next draw, you deserve it! :)
