I wasn't planning on making a post since I've been very busy lately, but how could I leave you without this content especially today, because it’s going to be special. We're not going to talk about individual cards per se, but rather about the card ecosystem itself and what you should be thinking about and considering when acquiring cards whether you're buying your first ones or trying to strengthen your lineups. Note: this post applies to all card games, but it's focused on @splinterlands.

I love card games because every so often new cards or mechanics are released that change the meta and force us to rethink our strategies. I’ll be talking about some of those ideas a bit later. But for now, let’s get into analysis mode and go over the key points:

Don’t Get Carried Away

It’s no secret that when a new set drops, the average user starts buying like crazy without first analyzing the meta or simulating how things might play out. In the long term, this can backfire especially in an NFT game since the value of cards tends to drop over time, and that’s when the market stabilizes and becomes a good time to buy.

In the case of Splinterlands, you can now start seeing the real prices of cards because we already have a good sense of what’s being played, what works, and what doesn’t.

♦️Think LongTerm

Currently in Modern format, the expansions are:

• Fundations (which is free)
• Rebellion
• Conclave Arcana

Let me put it into two contexts:

♦️Context 1: If you buy cards from the Rebellion set, in about a year they’ll rotate out of Modern, and you’ll likely lose your investment or a good part of it. Yes, you could switch to Wild league, but personally I feel Modern is the best game mode right now. It offers the best rewards, in my view. Also, Wild requires you to pay a fee in DEC to play (they really should improve this aspect).

♦️Context 2: If you buy cards from Conclave Arcana, you're securing their use in Modern for 2 more years which is amazing! You could potentially recover most of your investment in that time. In two years, the game might look very different, and you could sell your Conclave set to buy whatever’s current then. (It’s a cycle.)

I’ve heard from many players who had the top tier Chaos Legion set and once it rotated, they were left with nothing to play in Modern. That’s why I want you to keep this section in mind.

Utility and Demand

There’s a concept called “lose to learn”, and it applies perfectly here. Losing helps you understand what’s popular, and why your opponents are winning. It’s usually because they have stronger cards.

This is where you need to observe which cards are the strongest right now, which ones work well, and which ones don’t so you can start planning a slow, smart investment strategy.

Tip: Try to have at least 2 summoners at level 3. Higher level summoners are a big help in matches.

Love for the Art

The last two expansions have had amazing visual design. So if you’ve already taken care of the practical stuff above and still have money left over, go ahead and buy the shiny or animated cards that look great and give you bonus rewards when you win battles.

BONUS

For me, there are only two Web3 card games currently worth your time. One is Splinterlands, and the other I’ll give you two clues about:

• It has a community here on Hive
• I’ve made several posts about it on my blog
• I’ve even earned profits there, which I used to buy cards in Splinterlands

Finally, when buying a card, the most important question to ask yourself is:

Are you in the game for the money or because you love card games?

No tenia pensando hacer post ya que he estado muy ocupado últimamente, pero como los voy a dejar sin este material que hoy va a ser muy especial ya que no hablaremos de las cartas como tal ; sino del ecosistema de cartas en si y de que debes pensar y mirar frente a la adquisición de alguna o si estas pensando en comprar tus primeras cartas o intentando reforzar tus alineaciones; ojo este post aplica para todos los juegos de cartas pero enfocado en @splinterlands .

Los juegos de cartas me encantan ya que cada tiempo salen x cartas o x mecánicas que cambian el meta del juego y nos hacen plantearnos algunas cosas que te estaré contando mas tarde, pero bueno pongámonos en modo análisis y empecemos con los puntos que vamos a tratar.

• piensa en el futuro

No te Emociones
Para nadie es un secreto que cuando sale un set el promedio de usuarios empiezan a comprar como loco sin antes ver el meta del juego o intentar simular como se comportara. Esto a largo plazo es malo ya que si estas un juego de nft el promedio de las cartas con el tiempo va a bajar y ahí es donde puedes empezar a comprar algunas cartas, ya que el mercado se establecido.
En este caso en splinterlands ya puedes mirar los precios reales de las cartas, ya que tenemos un estimado de que se esta jugando , que funciona y que no.

Piensa en el Futuro
Actualmente en el juego tenemos para Moderno las expansiones de Fundations ( que es gratis ), Rebellion y Conclave Arcana.
Te pongo en este contexto 1: si compras cartas del set Rebellion en un año aproximado van a rotar con lo que perderías tu inversión o gran parte de ello; también te podrías a pasar a la liga de wild pero siento que el mejor modo del juego es el Moderno y es donde están las mejores recompensas desde mi punto de vista actualmente, ademas de que wild tienes que pagar un estimado en Dec para jugar ( deberían mejorar este aspecto ).
contexto 2: si compras cartas del set Conclave Arcana te estas asegurando de que tus cartas las podrás usar por 2 años en Moderno esto es increíble ya que siento que podrías recuperar gran parte de la inversión en dicho tiempo. Ya en 2 años el juego podría cambiar mucho y podrías vender el set de Conclave para comprar las que lleguen en esa época ( es un ciclo ).
He escuchado de muchos jugadores que tenían el súper set de Chaos Legion y como roto se quedaron sin cartas para jugar en Moderno, es por eso que quiero que tengas en el radar esta sección.

Utilidad y Demanda
Hay algo que se llama perder para ganar, esto aplica para que sepas que es lo que mas se juega o porque te ganan en las partidas. Te ganan porque tienen cartas que son mejores y es ahí donde entra este punto para que observes cuales son las mejores cartas actualmente, cuales funcionan y cuales no y así planees una estrategia de inversión poco a poco para adquirirlas.
Un consejo trata de tener al menos 2 invocadores en nivel 3 ya que actualmente tener invocadores de mejor nivel te ayuda mucho en las partidas.

Amor por el Arte
Las ultimas 2 expansiones del juego me han gustado mucho hablando desde el aspecto visual. Pero si ya cumpliste con los demás puntos anteriores y te sobra el dinero puedes optar por comprar cartas bonitas esas que se mueven o tienen brillo especial y te darán un bono extra en las batallas cuando ganes.

BONUS

Para mi actualmente solo existen 2 juegos de cartas interesantes en Web3 y uno de ellos es splinterlands, el otro te daré 2 pistas: tiene una comunidad aquí en hive y he hecho varios post de ello que tienes en mi blog e incluso he sacado ganancias de allí para comprar cartas en splinterlands.

Como parte final de este bonus al momento de comprar una carta lo más importante que debes pensar es si estas el juego por el dinero o porque te gustan los juegos de cartas? ya cuando te respondas eso puedes aplicar lo que te enseñe en este post o desecharlo, ya que esto te dará mucho en que pensar frente a tu camino en este tipo de juegos.
