2024 Battle Of The Day -- July 7th Bonus Battles

Thanks for checking out some bonus battle content. Picking the Battle of the Day is hard, and plenty of intriguing battles fall by the wayside. Here are three favorites that didn't make it.

I'll be quicker with coverage and we'll have a bit more fun. Of course, it helps when I get to pick some big winners and exciting strategies. The images and battle links should help you be part of the action!

BONUS BATTLE LINK 1 vs. @vettev

It's not every day I get to battle against the top account in Modern, and even rarer when I bag the win. I was surprised they also didn't field Venka in this Odd Ones Out battle but maybe they feared I would be set up to beat it too. Instead, they tried to battle against it with the shield monster up front and a tank heal in behind.

The weapons training plan worked out well and the repair from Scavo did its job. All three attackers got in speedy-fast range damage. The tactics from their summoner were mainly neutralized, as they didn't have any great options for either mode and the Agent was the least of their worries. Venka did as Venka does, despite Vettev's effort to stop her with a shield tank in Lost Magic. Next!

BONUS BATTLE LINK 2 vs. @ram.here

Another familiar name from a Tier 5 guild in this one and a classic Duce dilemma... Life vs. Death. I'll be the first to admit I haven't explored the full potential of Cryptic as much as I should, especially considering I'm such a fan of House Dimir. He's a savage!

This new EXPOSE ability, 80% (what client says) chance to remove what?! Forcefield, Lookout, Reflection Shield, Void, Void Armor, Cleanse, Reflection Shield, and Immunity! Watch out Inevitable, you are about to get exposed as a hunk of junk -- the death team is here!

The shield bug does its job in the back even without its hard armor. Jailor goes full beast mode with the hit + poison in ambush and Cryptic is the truth. Life can kindly GTFO. Your team is boring with all that heal and repair. Won't matter if you're too slow and blind to hit anything. Next!

BONUS BATTLE LINK 3 vs. @stephenkinglee32

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I'd just prefer to not have to play Back 2 Basics battles as much (or anymore), but I know some purists who absolutely love it. I'm looking at you @fatjimmy!

One of the things I love about this battle is that saucy new Level 8 Captain Katie in the back! With all the merits given out in the new loot chests, I'm just a few dozen cards short of having all my common and rare Gladiators maxed. Also that Bera up front is a BEAST!

Finally, I see these two dragon summoners face off a lot and typically it doesn't fare well for Sthispa, even when it's a magic-only ruleset. The slow from Quix is detrimental when trying to get speed/flying misses from the phase ability, so Sthispa is just a blank most of the time while its whole team is slower.

My team was faster than theirs, which is not where you want to be running Sthispa. The same is true of another Riftwatchers epic summoner, Aquatus. How is it supposed to pull off backfire against Kelya that makes her team faster and gives an armor to protect against the first backfire! End rant. End Bonus Battles.
