DuceCrypto's S173 - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 86 Report Card

Season 173 was the final season of a very prosperous 2025 in #Splinterlands for myself and our gaming community. There have been so many positive developments and improvements in 2025 that it is hard to list them all. Off the top of my head, there was the new core set, Conclave Arcana, and its new premium black foil and arcane cards. There was the advancement of land resources and craftable goods. And finally, there was the addition of the Survivor and Frontier formats to help make use of old cards and have a training ground for new players and new beginner-friendly cards.

But enough looking back at all of 2025; instead, let's focus on S173 and how I earned SPS in the 24th and final season of Splinterlands in 2025. What a great way to end the year... let's take a look at the stats!

I ended S173 with one of my best performances in Modern Ranked, outside of that one season when the liquidity bots were shipping easy wins with incomplete lineups. I also had a lot of free time on my hands over the holiday break, which allowed me to play 346 Modern battles compared to just 167 Wild battles. Playing over 2x as many Modern battles than Wild battles translated to much higher SPS earnings, but we'll get to that a bit later.

Of my 346 Modern battles, I won 190 of them for a 55% win rate. Despite my strong final rating of 4540, I only finished in 62nd place on the leaderboard for a minimum 100K Glint bonus.

Of my 167 Wild battles, the automated battler won 99 of them for a 59% win rate. The bot also finished with a rating over 4500, but again, it was only good for 60th place and a minimum 100K Glint bonus.

Ideally, I'd still like to see those win rates edge back over 60%. I'm hoping I can improve on my Wild win rate with a quick analysis of which key Wild cards I'm missing so I can buy or rent them for the season. But to improve my Modern win rate, I'm really going to need to lock in with more focus to avoid unnecessary flees and use the best metagame strategy I can!

Like a broken record, my inability to play my tournament battles on time is costing me SPS earnings and wasting DC registration fees. Incredibly, I played in 23 events during S173 and fled some number of battles in all but 4 of them. Considering I played 346 Modern battles and all three brawls, it is a shame that I don't have that same commitment to @sps.dao tournament events.

It is easy to blame the asynchronous battles, since the letdown of entering a lineup and then having to wait for your opponent's lineup to find out the result of the battle is no fun! If I want to return to winning over 10K SPS in seasonal tournament prizes like I used to in the first half of 2025, I need to get over it and improve my tournament participation.

Of the 23 events I played in, I fled all of Day 1 in 10 of them. In another four events, I fled part of the Day 1 battles, but at least won enough to qualify for the minimum SPS prize. That leaves 9 events in which I completed all of my Day 1 battles. In four of those events, I did not qualify for Day 2. In the other five of those events, I made Day 2, but then frustratingly fled Day 2 in all of them.

On the bright side, I still earned 5050.4 SPS from my tournament conquests in S173. But if I were a bit more committed to entering my battles without needing to know my results, I'm sure I could double those SPS earnings. Sounds like I got my work cut out for me in 2026, because this is one of the places it should be easy for me to improve on!

Compared to tournaments, my Ranked rewards returns were much better. 11338.5 SPS just from winning Modern and Wild Ranked rewards battles is a huge W. In fact, I'm not sure that I've ever earned over 10K SPS from a Ranked rewards season.

I earned 9551 SPS from Modern battles, which averages out to 50.3 SPS/win and 27.6 SPS/battle.

I earned 1787.5 SPS from Wild battles, which averages out to 18.1 SPS/win and 10.7 SPS/battle.

Would you look at that! 21441.8 SPS from land mining in S173. Sadly, that's not pure profit because I still have to buy some resources to complete the SPS mining. I spend about 100K DEC over the course of a full season to harvest SPS from 8 occupied plots and Aura from 4 magical plots. But over time, as I continue to build out my Trade Hub positions in the resource liquidity pools, I will be able to use my surplus from other regions to pay for my SPS and Aura. I'm looking forward to the day when my land use becomes completely self-sufficient without the need to purchase other people's resources.

Brawl revenue continues to shrink as more guilds move into Tier 5 and competition improves. It has been harder to take 1st place in Brawl, which is a combination of stronger opponents consolidating in Tier 5 guilds and some inconsistencies with people submitting their lineups on time. Until we get the brawl/guild overhaul, I think we'll just hav e to be content with the reduced brawl earnings.

My SPS staking rewards fell just short of 2000 SPS as I finally crossed the 1M staked SPS threshold. Unfortunately, I didn't spend much time above the 1M mark since I unstaked a hefty chunk of SPS to prepare for the mini-set sale planned for the start of February. It will be interesting to see what happens to the staking rewards while accounts across Praetoria implement their unstaking plans to get ready for the mini-set.

It blows my mind that I cleared over 10K SPS from Ranked rewards alone, and I'm still getting used to the idea that I can earn twice as much SPS from land mining as from battle winning. It is wild to think that I earned 34974.5 SPS from rewards in S173.

In sum, 2025 was a great year, and I ended it in great shape. My performance in Modern ranked was my best in recent history, and the returns from land continue to astound me. Combining the 34974.5 SPS from rewards and the 5050.4 SPS from tournaments gives me a total net of 40025 SPS in S173. Over 40K is amazing, I can't believe it's been 4 and a half years to get here because it feels like just yesterday I was learning the ropes of this great game. Using today's SPS spot price of 0.0082 USD, I earned over $328 worth of the Splinterlands governance token across the many different facets of the ecosystem.

I am so incredibly excited about the future of Splinterlands and bullish about the potential for the SPS token. I enjoy my time on the battlefield, and I continue to meet new people in our community. I cannot wait for what's to come in 2026. See you on the battlefield. Until next time...
