Casí es navidad y por lo general estas fechas son super agetreadas. Creo que todos de un modo u otro andamos corriendo tratando de hacer de navidad una fecha especial.
Personalmente hay cosas que me gustan y otras que no tanto, y por esa razón decidí manifestar en esta oportunidad una especie de catarcis.
It's almost Christmas and usually these dates are super busy. I think that in one way or another we are all running around trying to make Christmas a special date.
Personally there are things that I like and others that I don't like so much, and for that reason I decided to express in this opportunity a kind of catarcis.
Culturalmente hablando en mi país prodomina una religión aunque hayan cientos de cultos y otras manifestaciones religiosas ninguna es mas numerosa que el cristianismo, en especial el catolicismo, cosa que hace de navidad una fecha muy importante para todo creyente.
Ahora bien, la desinformación a nivel general es tanta que muchos tienden a confundir navidad (25 de diciembre) con la noche buena, que no es más que la vispera de navidad. Creo saber el origen de la confusión.
Culturally speaking, in my country one religion dominates, although there are hundreds of cults and other religious manifestations, none is more numerous than Christianity, especially Catholicism, which makes Christmas a very important date for all believers.
However, the general misinformation is such that many tend to confuse Christmas (December 25) with Christmas Eve, which is nothing more than the eve of Christmas. I think I know the origin of the confusion.
La cristiandad tiene una gran influencia del judaísmo, por lo que sus modos de concebir el tiempo sagrado es similar por no decir igual al catolicismo. Por lo que tengo entendido un día comienza con el ocaso con sus visperas, la noche del 24 de diciembre celebramos navidad porque aunque no sea propiamente la fecha que se ha escogido como día en el cual nació Jesús de Nazaret, la noche juato antes del día 25 es su víspera y sagradamente podría decirse que ya a comenzado el día 25 de diciembre aunque en nuestro calendario aun no llegue el día 25.
Por eso, lo que pudiese ser una confusión o desinformación paso a ser tradición sin más, lo hacemos sin pensar el verdadero por qué. Ahora bien el por qué se celebrs la Navidad el 25 de diciembre es un asunto que podría comentarles más adelante...
Christianity has a great influence of Judaism, so their way of conceiving the sacred time is similar if not the same as Catholicism. As far as I understand, a day begins with the sunset with its visperas, the night of December 24 we celebrate Christmas because although it is not properly the date that has been chosen as the day on which Jesus of Nazareth was born, the night just before the 25th is its eve and sacredly could be said that the 25th of December has already begun although in our calendar the 25th has not yet arrived.
Therefore, what could be a confusion or misinformation became a tradition without further ado, we do it without thinking about the real reason why. Now, why Christmas is celebrated on December 25 is a matter that I could tell you more about later...
Pasemos a lo que me gusta y lo que no de estas fechas decembrinas en torno a la Navidad.
Se han preguntado ¿por qué somos como somos? ¿por que celebramos como celebramos? Yo si, y me ha traido alegrías y profundas decepciones con los seres humanos.
Lo que me gusta de navidad es su sentido a la familiaridad, buscamos estar cerca de los nuestros, buscamos dar obsequios y lindos detalles en navidad. Por lo general hay un noble propósito pero lo tendemos a desvirtuar como todo lo que tocamos.
Let's move on to what I like and what I don't like about the Christmas season.
Have you ever wondered why we are the way we are, why we celebrate the way we celebrate? I have, and it has brought me joys and deep disappointments with human beings.
What I like about Christmas is its sense of familiarity, we seek to be close to our loved ones, we seek to give gifts and nice details at Christmas. Usually there is a noble purpose but we tend to distort it like everything else we touch.
Creo que una de las cosas que menos me gusta de la navidad es la superficialidad a la que a veces tendemos, aunque no es una generalización. No estoy con esto afirmando que todos seamos así.
Pero esa pulsión consumista que por decadas viene creciendo socialmente me parece algo vacío y sumamente vacuo. Hay cosas que pueden ser significativas como dar regalos o tomarse una copa de algún licor, pero porque gastar sumas exorbitantes de dinero que hoy por hoy no poseo, el sistema neocapitalista tiene para mi un defecto y ha sido que convirtió a la deuda en un motor económico a costa del bienestar financiero de millones de personas.
Esta conducta la tenemos que revisar, el consumo es un aspecto individual pero cuando arriesgamos nuestra salud emocional y financiera por un status quo decembrino es algo que me parece nocivo.
I think one of the things I like least about Christmas is the superficiality to which we sometimes tend, although this is not a generalization. I am not saying that we are all like that.
But that consumerist impulse that has been growing socially for decades seems to me something empty and extremely vacuous. There are things that can be meaningful like giving gifts or having a glass of some liquor, but why spend exorbitant amounts of money that today I do not possess, the neocapitalist system has for me a defect and it has been that it has turned debt into an economic engine at the expense of the financial welfare of millions of people.
We have to review this behavior, consumption is an individual aspect but when we risk our emotional and financial health for a decennial status quo is something that seems harmful to me.
Quizá muchos cercanos a mi pueden pensar que soy un grinch, quizás mi esposa y mi mejor amiga saben que soy medio grinch pero en el fondo saben que la navidad me gusta mucho y esde las épocas más lindas y significativas personalmente y también espiritualmente.
Maybe many close to me may think I'm a grinch, maybe my wife and my best friend know that I'm half grinch but deep down they know that I like Christmas very much and it is one of the most beautiful and meaningful times personally and also spiritually.
