Well, today I would like to share with you another figurine, this time inspired by Uraeus, a fearsome snake with a rather terrifying appearance. In the two images below, you can see the reference image and a photo of the final result:

Saludos amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog. En esta ocasión me gustaría compartir con ustedes una figurita inspirada en el juego de hive llamado Splinterlands. En otras ocasiones ya he compartido en mi blog algunas figuritas inspiradas en personajes del juego.

Pues bien, hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes otra figurita inspirada esta vez en Uraeus, una temible serpiente con un aspecto bastante aterrador. En el par de imágenes de abajo pueden observar la imagen de referencia y una foto del resultado final:

It is a bust-style figure, although it is difficult to define what a snake's bust would look like, so I simply made the head and part of the body. Join me in the creative process of making this little figure.

Es una figura hecha estilo busto, aunque es difícil definir cual sería el busto de una serpiente, simplemente hice la cabeza y parte del cuerpo. Acompáñenme en el proceso creativo de esta figurita.

Step by step

Well, friends, I used few materials for this figurine, but just the right ones needed to make this little figure. The materials were modeling clay, glue, wire, and paint.

The modeling clay I started with is the one you see in the image below, a light brown color and slightly opaque. With this modeling clay, I made the shape you see below, an elongated shape but wide at the sides to make the fins that the cobra has on its sides.

Paso a paso

Bien amigos, para esta figurita usé pocos materiales, pero los justos y necesarios para lograr hacer esta pequeña figuita. Los materiales fueron plastilina, pegamento, alambre y pintura.

La plastilina con la que comencé a moldear es esta que ven en la imagen de abajo, una de color marrón claro y un poco opaco. Con esta plastilina hice esa forma que ven abajo, una forma alargada pero ancha a los lados para hacer esas aletas que tiene la cobra en los costados.

I continued shaping until I had defined the shape of the fins and the snake's body itself. I even opened its mouth at the head, which is the central part of the figurine, revealing its enormous teeth.

At the bottom of the figure, I made a flattened L-shape, which is the shape I decided to give it so that the figurine could stand upright. At this point, I used a small piece of wire to go through the entire piece to hold it in place.

Continué moldeando hasta definir bien esa forma de las aletas y el propio cuerpo de la serpiente, incluso en la parte de la cabeza le abrí la boca, que es la parte central de la figurita, donde se muestran sus enormes dientes.

En la parte inferior de la figura hice esa forma aplastada como si fuese una L, es la forma que decidí darle para poder apoyar la figurita. En este punto usé un trocito de alambre que atravesara toda la pieza para poder mantenerla en su lugar.

For the snake's belly, I made a long, thin strip of beige plasticine, as you can see in the image below, on the left. Then, once the shape was made, I used a small stick to make horizontal lines to simulate the separations between scales.

En cuanto al abdomen de la serpiente hice una larga tira delgada de plastilina color beige, como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, a la izquierda. Luego, una vez hecha la forma, usé un pequeño palillo para hacer unas líneas horizontales, para simular las separaciones entre escamas y escamas.

Once the piece was ready, I glued it to the top of the neck, just below the head. There, I spread this beige piece down to the bottom of the figurine, where it would be hidden by the base of the body.

In addition to the sticky properties of the plasticine itself, I used more glue to give this joint greater support and keep the snake's abdomen firmly in place.

Una vez lista la pieza la pegué desde la parte superior del cuello, justo debajo de la cabeza. Allí extendí esta pieza beige hasta la parte inferior de la figurita, donde ya quedase ocultar por la base del cuerpo.

Además de la propia propiedad pegajosa de la plastilina, usé más pegamento para dar mayor soporte a esta unión y que el abdomen de la serpiente quedara fijo en su lugar.

It's obvious that snakes don't have smooth bodies, so I used the rounded tip of a small knitting needle I have to make numerous little dots along the body to simulate their rough, scaly skin.

Es evidente que las serpientes no tienen cuerpos lisos, así que usé la punta redondeada de una pequeña aguja de tejer que tengo para hacer numerosos puntitos a lo largo del cuerpo para simular esa piel rugosa y llena de escamas que tienen.

The next thing I did was the mouth. I covered it almost entirely with slightly opaque crimson red plasticine. I made the folds, tongue, and fangs in this color, using glue again to give some support to certain pieces.

As you can see in the image below, I also glued the figurine onto a square cardboard base with rounded edges.

Lo siguiente que hice fue la boca. La cubrí casi en su totalidad con plastilina de color rojo carmesí un poco opaco. Hice los pliegues, la lengua y los colmillos de este color, usando pegamento nuevamente para dar algo de soporte a algunas piezas.

Tal como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, también pegué la figurita en una base cuadrada de cartón, esta con los bordes redondeados.

After this, the figurine was practically ready, with only the coloring process remaining. Since it was a snake, I gave its body shades of yellow, brown, and black, darkening the abdomen slightly.

With this painting process, I highlighted the lines of the dots I had made on the body a little more, making the scales I mentioned more visible. On the other hand, in the mouth, I simply colored the fangs white.

Luego de esto la figurita prácticamente estaba lista, solo faltaba el proceso de coloreado. Al ser una serpiente le di unas tonalidades entre amarillo, marrón y negro en el cuerpo, oscureciendo un poco el abdomen.

Con este proceso de pintado resalté un poco más las líneas de los puntos que había hecho en el cuerpo, siendo más visibles estas escamas que mencioné. Por otra parte, en la boca simplemente le coloreé los colmillos de color blanco.

And that's how the figurine was finished. Below you can see a series of photographs of the final result:
