The Jagged Edge - HIVE / Splinterlands meet up, Adelaide, South Australia June 2023

So, I left the house for the first time in about a year on a Thursday night. @onthemountain covered for my regular @SplinterlandsTV stream so that I could go "meet a fan", and long time friend of memes, @jagged.

It has been such a long time since I've been to a meet up, that the venue has changed. Currently, as of 2023, the invitation is open to everyone - Last Thursday of each Month, after 6PM, at the Duke of Brunswick Hotel on Gilbert Street, in Adelaide.

It was excellent to catch up with regular people like @mattclarke and @minismallholding, but the nature of these meet ups is such that when they're successful - there's too many people present and you don't get to catch up with everyone property. @ctrpch spoke to me about the joys of stacking HIVE, and I spoke to @jagged just like I was, if I had been on Splinterlands TV.

I did everything to try and convince some swing votes in the DAO with the illustrious @mattclarke in attendance, but I don't think I was convincing enough.

Now, I'm somewhat in a crossroads. Recently @strega.azure did an illustration and story about how observant I am. She used a particular image of me to do this.

I rock up to the pub for the meet up, and I'm confronted with a gift. A gift that I though to be implausible.

image.png

Congratulations if you saw this in the first image. This made me not only laugh, but also be ashamed, terrified, and sort of perplexed as to why someone would do this to me.

But mostly, I was speechless.

This is the sort of stuff that shows how deep the Splinterlands community runs, and how we can all be "one with each other", even if we're not always one with the DAO.

Tell me about your Splinterlands meet ups. It's much better than hanging around in discord or on the chat for Splinterlands TV.

If I get Jagged to send you one in the mail, will you wear it on a townhall? The ULTIMATE Townhall Shout Out.

@cookiewillie nice photo 😄

Jessica says that Adelaide people are the nicest & says we should move there.

Thank you for all of your hospitality @mattclarke @holoz0r

Great to see the @minismallholding clan!

And new people to put a name to the face to the name @ctrpch

Never enough time to fit in all of the potential conversations.
Always an incentive to visit again sometime!

It is now my first celebrity image. First you draw it, then it ends up on a t-shirt :D

What next? A freakin' billboard?!

Such a great idea actually!
How about a maaaaaassive neon with actual halo(not arrival-like one) on??

Next you'll want "Uncle holoz0r's Dill Pickles" to be licenced. Such vitriol! (and sarcasm)

The lovely troll and scholar who gifted this to me ensured my wife also got a copy of the t-shirt. She said she'd not wear it in public. I know I certainly can't wear a tshirt in public with my own face on it, such hubris would be divine.

Maybe I should give them away as prizes on Splinterlands TV?

That escalated quickly! But I meant to ask - did your friend bough the rights to the picture?

Charge him! Such a business opprotunity.

I think you can replace this boring kinder-kid face

She is just teasing you, she already does, probably:)

There is no question about it. Only question is - how many colours you should order?

None, I only have the two. I didn't consider the copyright implications of the image being printed on the t-shirt. I'm okay with it though, because it left me genuinely speechless.

I think you are genuinely missing business opportunity here :D

And I agree, we're all just faces.

It's a piece of very decent music. Interestingly, youtube warned me that it could lead to suicide, but oh well, sometimes it's worth the risk.

You're wrong here, I don't have a face :D

Being lactose intolerant doesn't stop my wife from cheese. If you have a proper dairy allergy, are you like me who enjoys an Almond Milk Hot Chocolate?

Yeah, unfortunately proper, nasty allergy. It worsened when I become adult. I've learn to deal with it over time, I don't think there is many things I actually miss. One thing maybe - cottage cheese sprinkled with fresh spring onions and slices of radishes on the side:)

I like almond milk, it's my favourite, then oat milk:) Don like soy one all that much though 😝

I like oat chocolate milk, is very thick, and not that sweet. Oatly is my very favourite!

As for hot - I'm making cocoa at home with half in half - coconut and almond milk. I use dark bitter cocoa:) This kind that is normally used for baking. Sometimes I am adding cinnamon bark, or few cardamom seeds, or vanilla stick to enrich the flavour:)

Sounds like we have similar tastes in beverages. Oat milk seems to be hard to come by in these parts, ie; it is much more expensive.

Your hot chocolate sounds like a spiced rum, which used to be my go to beverage when I still consumed alcohol.

Here is on average about 3x more expensive than regular milk. Almond, oat or coconut milk it is same price shelf, it is really depend form the brand. For almond milk the best one I have found so far is 'Plenish' one, no additions and other nonsense.

I like experiment with spices. I was trying everything with my coffee too :D

I have little to no knowledge about alcohols in general. What way it is 'spiced' rum? It is just high percentage beverage with pinch of cinnamon in it? Or more sophisticated way - would it be a rum aged in an oak barrel that previously housed the soul of a 100-year-old chardonnay?

Yeah, spiced rum is just using things like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and those things that you would likely put in a cake, but putting it in the rum. Rum is made from sugarcane, so it is basically a cake in liquid form when it is spiced and mixed with various things.

One of my favourite things to do was to take the flavoured vanilla pepsi or coke (it didn't matter which), use a spiced rum (Kraken, or Captain Morgan black) - add lime wedges, and finish it with a dash of a fortified white wine made by a local place.

It would taste like a caramel delight with hints of vanilla and was such easy drinking. To me at least. I prefer to have my liver not do so much heavy lifting any more, so no more. Also, it was just empty calories.

Just realised what a narrow palette of flavours I have :D

Love lime though. For cooking mostly, but I just cannot get enough this thing. Grated lime zest can make even lame, boring food exciting!

It is actually sound like dessert:) Yeah, liver over some short time pleasures:)

I don't drink much alcohol, but I don't like sweet and thick, caramel - like structured ones. Don't really understand the concept :D

I swung between drinking that and "girly" white and rose wines. I was quite eclectic in my tastes, and I didn't care. :D

My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.

I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.

Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.

For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.

Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
