Sea Genie Macrame Wall Hanging // Splinterlands Art Contest Week 262
Saludos a todos, feliz #needleworkmonday, hoy comparto con ustedes un colgante de pared que hice con técnica de macramé, con esta publicación participo en el Splinterlands Art Contest Week 262, el personaje que escogí es Sea Genie el cual es el único resiente de la Cueva de los Misterios, es prisionero de los indicadores Azmaré y por eso cumple sus órdenes. Me pareció muy interesante su historia y su apariencia en general, es un tipo con bastante cabello y con musculatura definida, así que quise hacerlo lo más similar posible.
Greetings to all, happy #needleworkmonday, today I share with you a wall hanging that I made with the macramé technique, with this publication I participate in the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 262, the character I chose is Sea Genie, which is the only one remaining from the Cave of Mysteries, he is a prisoner of the Azmaré indicators and that is why he follows their orders. I found his story and his appearance in general very interesting, he is a guy with a lot of hair and defined muscles, so I wanted to make him as similar as possible.
Proceso / Process
Para hacer el diseño corté la imagen de la carta para hacer un formato rectangular de orientación vertical, con este recorte obtuve el retrato por así decirlo, definí entonces el color de los hilos a utilizar. Yo trabajo con hilo acrílico de 1mm, para el fondo usé un color bastante difícil de definir, es parecido al color naranja pero a la vez tiene un toque más oscuro. Elegí naranja para el fondo porque el color crea contraste con el color azul de la piel del personaje. Usé dos tonos de azul para la piel, gris claro y blanco para el turbante, rojo para el tomo medio del chaleco, vinotinto para el tono sombra y rosado para la luz. Para el cabello usé negro, gris oscuro y gris claro, para el pantalón tres tonos de amarillo y por supuesto para todo el delineado de la figura usé hilo negro. En total usé 14 colores de hilo para este proyecto.
To make the design I cut the image of the playing card to make a rectangular format with a vertical orientation, with this cut I obtained the portrait so to speak, I then defined the color of the threads to use. I work with 1mm acrylic yarn, for the background I used a color that is quite difficult to define, it is similar to orange but at the same time has a darker touch. I chose orange for the background because it is the color that creates contrast with the blue color of the character's skin. I used two shades of blue for the skin, light gray and white for the turban, red for the middle volume of the vest, burgundy for the shadow tone and pink for the light. For the hair I used black, dark gray and light gray, for the pants three shades of yellow and of course for the entire outline of the figure I used black thread. In total I used 14 colors of thread for this project.
Para comenzar con el hilo naranja corté 17 hebras de 45 cm. Las tomé por la mitad y con un nudo Alondra uní cada hebra al palito, obteniendo 34 hilos guía. Sujeté el palito con dos pinzas para ropa en la tabla, también sujeté el hilo de anudar.
To start with the orange thread I cut 17 strands of 45 cm. I took them in half and with an Alondra knot I joined each strand to the stick, obtaining 34 guide threads. I attached the stick with two clothespins to the board, I also attached the knotting thread.
Comencé las hilera de nudos simples. En donde la hebra envuelve dos veces cada uno de los hilos de guía de izquierda a derecha y luego de derecha a izquierda, los hilos de guía siempre mantienen en el mismo lugar mientras que la hebra de anudar cambia de color cuantas veces sea necesario dependiendo del diseño y se cruzan por detrás, cada nudo representa un cuadro de la imagen, por lo que podría interpretarse como una especie de pixel art pero en macramé.
I started the row of simple knots. Where the thread wraps around each of the guide threads twice from left to right and then from right to left, the guide threads always remain in the same place while the knotting thread changes color as many times as necessary depending on the design and cross behind, each knot represents a frame of the image, so it could be interpreted as a kind of pixel art but in macramé.
Continúe trabajando la imagen, donde cada sección de color tiene su hilo para la sombra, para la zona media y para la luz y el brillo. Para la piel del personaje solo usé dos tonos de azul pero por ejemplo para el pantalón y chaleco si usé tres tonos por color.
Continue working the image, where each color section has its thread for the shadow, for the middle zone and for the light and brightness. For the character's skin I only used two shades of blue but for example for the pants and vest I used three shades per color.
Terminé de hacer nudos en la hilera número 75, luego dividí los hilos guía en 4 secciones. Con una hebra de color azul hice un nudo en cada sección y corté los flecos sobrantes. Aparte con el hilo naranja corté 6 hebras de 20cm hice una trenza para hacer el asa del colgante de pared.
I finished tying knots on row number 75, then divided the leader threads into 4 sections. With a blue strand I tied a knot in each section and cut the excess fringes. Separately, with the orange thread I cut 6 strands of 20cm and made a braid to make the handle of the wall hanging.
Resultado / Result
A mi me gusta mucho el resultado y creo que el parecido a la imagen se puede notar a simple vista, espero seguir cada día mejorando en este técnica porque me encanta 🥰
