Saludos, comunidad. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes otro dibujo para el Splinterlands Art Contest. Tenía pensado subirlo ayer, pero el primero que hice no me gustó, así que hoy en la tarde me puse a trabajar nuevamente en el personaje que elegí, buscando una postura en relación con su poder.

Greetings, community. Today I want to share with you another drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. I had planned to upload it yesterday, but the first one I did didn't like it, so today in the afternoon I started to work again on the character I chose, looking for a pose in relation to its power.

Goblin Psychic

Goblin Psychic es un mago con poderes psíquicos. Cuando lo vi, pensé en Alakazam, un pokémon que siempre me llamó la atención porque aparecía con cucharas en las manos, por aquella vieja idea de que los psíquicos pueden doblar cucharas.

Luego de buscar imágenes de Alakazam, encontré un fan art que me gustó y me inspiré en él para hacer este dibujo. Aquí pueden ver el fan art del que les hablo:

Goblin Psychic is a wizard with psychic powers. When I saw him, I thought of Alakazam, a pokémon that always caught my attention because he appeared with spoons in his hands, because of that old idea that psychics can bend spoons.

After searching for images of Alakazam, I found a fan art that I liked and I was inspired by it to make this drawing. Here you can see the fan art I'm talking about:

Realicé el boceto a lápiz y después remarqué los contornos con bolígrafo negro. Las manos me dieron más trabajo de lo que esperaba, como pueden notar en las fotos. Luego digitalicé el boceto y empecé a colorear. Duré un buen rato eligiendo una tonalidad de azul oscuro que me gustara y combinara con el morado de la ropa del personaje.

I made the sketch in pencil and then outlined the contours with black pen. My hands gave me more work than I expected, as you can see in the photos. Then I digitized the sketch and started coloring. I spent a long time choosing a shade of dark blue that I liked and combined with the purple of the character's clothes.

Después trabajé en el fondo. Quería que el personaje estuviera flotando y que una luz fuerte cayera desde arriba, como si estuviera iluminado. Hice un triángulo con la herramienta pluma alrededor de él y usé la herramienta de selección. Pinté de blanco el triángulo y el espacio restante lo dejé anaranjado, para que hiciera juego con la ropa.

Luego trabajé en las sombras y las luces. Esto fue lo que más tiempo me llevó. Hice ambas cosas al mismo tiempo, en capas diferentes, reduciendo la opacidad de ambas, con la capa de luces en modo superponer.

Then I worked on the background. I wanted the character to be floating and a strong light to fall from above, as if he was illuminated. I made a triangle with the pen tool around him and used the selection tool. I painted the triangle white and left the remaining space orange, to match the clothes.

Then I worked on the shadows and highlights. This took the most time. I did both at the same time, on different layers, reducing the opacity of both, with the highlights layer in overlay mode.

Al finalizar, subí un poco la tonalidad del dibujo y realicé un pequeño cambio en la iluminación. Quedé satisfecho con este trabajo. Cada vez me gusta más participar en este concurso, porque pone a prueba la creatividad de cada uno de nosotros y nos motiva a buscar nuevas formas de hacer las cosas. Espero les haya gustado. At the end, I raised a little the tonality of the drawing and made a small change in the illumination. I was satisfied with this work. I like participating in this contest more and more, because it tests the creativity of each one of us and motivates us to look for new ways of doing things. I hope you liked it. See you next time.
