Splinterlands Art Contest │Harklaw

Saludos, comunidad. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un trabajo diferente a los anteriores, para el Splinterlands Art Contest de esta semana. La carta que elegí, fue la del personaje Harklaw, un monstruo de la oscuridad. Como su historia es breve, aquí les dejo lo que encontré en la wiki:

"Harklaw ha alcanzado el grado más alto de existencia Eterna Oscura en este reino. Durante muchos años ha estado listo para cruzar a la realidad oscura, pero amablemente se ha quedado atrás. Tal es la tradición con los más grandes hechiceros Eternos Oscuros de todos los tiempos para ayudar con la conversión y el avance de otros.

Poco sabe el Señor de la Oscuridad que Harklaw se queda atrás no para ayudar a sus compañeros Oscuros a la unidad, sino para perseguir objetivos egoístas y secretos. Harklaw ya se ha ganado la lealtad de algunos de los confidentes más cercanos del Señor de las Tinieblas, y juntos están urdiendo un plan para destronarle para siempre." Fuente

Greetings, community. Today I want to share with you a work different from the previous ones, for this week's Splinterlands Art Contest. The card I chose, was the character Harklaw, a monster of darkness. As his story is short, here is what I found in the wiki:

"Harklaw has achieved the highest degree of Dark Eternal existence in this realm. For many years it has been ready to cross over to the dark reality, but it has graciously stayed behind. Such is the tradition with the greatest Dark Eternal sorcerers of all time to help with the conversion and advancement of others.

Little does the Lord of Darkness know that Harklaw stays behind not to help his fellow Dark to oneness, but to pursue selfish and secret goals. Harklaw has already won the loyalty of some of the Dark Lord’s closest confidants, and together they are concocting a scheme to dethrone him forever." Source

Al principio, dibujé a este personaje con guantes de boxeo, un poco más delgado, con la frente marcada de venas y practicando como si estuviera disparando jabs. Pero esto no encaja con su personalidad, aunque sigo pensando que parece un boxeador. Por esa razón, intenté dibujarlo al estilo chibi y lo coloqué en una posición de ataque, como si estuviera peleando.

Cabe destacar, usé como referencia el dibujo de la wiki, otro en el que aparece completo el personaje, y uno que encontré en internet, compartido en un tweet de la cuenta oficial de Splinterlands. Estos son los enlaces:

At first, I drew this character with boxing gloves, a bit thinner, with a forehead marked with veins and practicing as if he was shooting jabs. But this doesn't fit his personality, although I still think he looks like a boxer. For that reason, I tried to draw him in a chibi style and put him in an attacking position, as if he was fighting.

It should be noted, I used as reference the wiki drawing, another one in which the character appears complete, and one that I found on the internet, shared in a tweet from the official Splinterlands account. These are the links:

Como siempre, hice el dibujo a lápiz, luego remarqué con bolígrafo, aunque esta vez procuré hacer los contornos más gruesos para facilitar las cosas al momento de colorear y editar en digital. Una vez terminado el boceto, pasé a colorear, como pueden apreciar en las imágenes.

As always, I made the drawing in pencil, then I outlined it with a ballpoint pen, although this time I tried to make the contours thicker to make things easier when coloring and editing in digital. Once the sketch was finished, I started coloring, as you can see in the images.

Luego hice un fondo y trabajé en los detalles de los cuernos, cuyos degradados en la imagen original le dan mucha vida al dibujo. Por último, trabajé las sombras y resalté la del suelo para que el personaje no se viera plano. Después combiné todas las capas y jugué con la saturación de colores hasta conseguir el tono general que deseaba.

Then I made a background and worked on the details of the horns, whose gradients in the original image give a lot of life to the drawing. Finally, I worked on the shadows and highlighted the one on the ground so that the character didn't look flat. Then I combined all the layers and played with the color saturation until I got the general tone I wanted.
