Eating out and its expenses

Greetings everyone!
Happy New Year!

As far as I can remember, my minimalist lifestyle started when I was very young, due to the not-so-poor background in which I was brought up. There were a lot of lifestyle expenses I and my siblings were cultured not to be involved in, and I was able to abstain from such expenses all through the time I lived with my parents, my schooling years, and until the moment I became a free individual.

Because I'm human and changes are prone to humans, I found myself loosened last year and involved in my long-time abstained lifestyle.

What is it?

Image is mine

It's EATING OUT.

I've never been a fan of eating out because I love to cook my food, not because of the show-off characters people pull up like, "eating out is not hygienic, bla bla bla," no. It's simply because cooking and eating at home are far more economical... especially in this tough economy.

The eating out here does not mean that I go out every day to patronize those restaurants, no. I only visit a particular restaurant, mostly on weekends, get food in a take-home pack, and go to my house to eat. Yes, I don't even sit there to eat. This happens on weekends only, mostly on Saturdays whenever I'm worn out due to weekend work and will be too tired to cook.

It's a normal thing, right? So why am I loud about it?

The thing is that ever since I tried it for the first time, I became addicted to it so much that even when I have food to eat at home on weekends, I would still head out to buy this food. I've wondered many times, and sometimes end with a conclusive sharp thought of *"that woman is using JuJu on her food" because what I was doing was completely opposite to my usual behavior.

Let me tell you;

There was a particular weekend that I patronized the restaurant up to twice a week, and that week, I had a very delicious soup in my house. The temptation to go and eat the food came so strong that I could not control, and at the end of the week, I ended up throwing away my soup because I fell asleep in the evening of one of those nights without warming it... it got sour.

I'm stopping it this year!

If it was voodoo at work last year, I'm breaking it off.

This is the first of the year, and I've taken the bold step in my resolution not to eat out again. If I'm going to do that, it's going to be on a rarely occasional basis.
I know it's going to be hard because I do work that's time-demanding, and I'm finding it hard to make food, which oftentimes at night, results in going out to eat. Nevertheless, I'll try as much as possible to make it only when it's necessary and unavoidable.

Thanks for reading.

This is my entry to the Hivenaija prompt of the week

I don’t know for Nigeria, but in some parts of Ghana ,eating out is even cheaper than cooking at home😂
But anyway I like cooking my food myself too just so I know what goes into the food
I remember somewhere 2022,I bought indomid outside and getting to the finishing part I saw a grasshopper in it. I’m not joking, since then it’s really been hard eating indomie from outside.

I once got into an argument on which one is costlier between eating out or cooking one's food. A man said, if the calculations is to be done with items and utensils used in cooking, them eating out is cheaper😅

Grasshopper in a food? Jeeeeez! It means the fluid content of the grasshopper had mixed in the food. I can't even comprehend it😭😭😭

When I was in school, me and buying food are 5 and 6 😅 it's because I'm always tired when I come back from school and even when I want to cook, the money I will use to buy foodstuffs will just discourage me

The truth is that, you were a rich kid while in school. No two ways about it🤣

Today, I escorted someone into an eatery after not being to an eatery for two years. The price of food in eateries now eeeh!

Hmm Mr chef eating out?! That's weird 😂 you had better keep to your resolution for this year and enjoy your delicious home made meals, I hope you are able to with your time demanding work.

Truthfully, outside food is tasty....most times sweeter than home food, but ladies won't accept this, including you 🤣

I'm working with the resolution already. One week passed and I didn't patronise them.

Thank you for stopping by

I have exactly this same trouble. Once I eat something once and put it in the fridge, it’s hard to eat it again.
But the fact that I really don’t have money lately is forcing me to always cook something at home😂😂.

But everyday, my first thought is always to order food

I've read many of your articles you made mention of ordering food hence the reason I see you as a very rich girl😅

Thank you🙌
