Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Equal Opportunity, Low Monster Gets It!

Coming in with the next challenge! The Battle Mage Secrets is out come and score more in the game! This time around we are looking at the Opportunity ruleset/ability, this means that low monster on the totem pole will get hit first! Let’s start with looking at the ability:

This is a fun ruleset, but it can be hard to do since you have to balance all of your monsters and what you want to do for the fight, speed helps a lot so that you can hit them first!

The battle that we are examining for this one is a lowish-level mana cap at 23 plus:

Equal Opportunity: All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.

Pretty straight forward on this one, lower ruleset with just one, but it makes it easy to do!

First up, the Summoner:

So the Helios Matriarch is a fun card to have, two things on why I chose her, the plus one to speed is great, it allows me to hit first, then the Conscript ability, which allows me to bring a gladiator to the battle, this is the reason I won.

The front line was the Mycelic Morphoid

I have this one in the front row to take a hit, looking more at the thorns ability to hit them back a little bit.

This one is here not so much for the damage, but for the Martyr ability, so when the fungus flinger dies it will give a +1 to all stats to the monsters next to them, which leads me to the next one.

The mainstay of this strategy:

This is one of my favorite cards in the game, it is hefty at 10 mana, but that is okay, having the 2 magic damage, 2 melee damage, 12 health and 3 speed, means she will be going quickly, and doing some damage. The nice part with the Equal Opportunity ruleset means that anywhere she is placed, she will attack once with magic and follow it up with melee, a good thing! Then the abilities, first bloodlust, for every kill that she gets a boost to all of her stats, which helps with the second ability, Heal, which means she will heal herself every round.

I like this older reward card a lot, for 3 mana, a good fit into the lower mana, also having the 2 magic damage means consistent damage output. However, the camouflage ability is really good here, meaning Biljka won’t be getting hit unless they are in the front row, great for the opportunity ruleset!

The last card was the Fungus Fiend

Free mana, which is always a good thing, but it will take a hit with the two health points, in the meantime, it can help do some damage with the 1 melee hit.

So, my initial thoughts on this one, I decided to go with the matriarch for the speed and then follow that up with quora, having the other monsters there to take hits while she grows in power, eventually being able to heal through all of the damage that she would take and continue to grow in power.

My strategy worked well on this one with Quora leading the charge, but it was close, they used affliction, which cancelled out my healing, but the throwaway monsters came to the front and really helped her build up her attacks to one shot the enemy monsters.

Things to keep in mind with the Equalizer ruleset:
• Low man get’s hit, void, shield, void armor, and heal, all great abilities
• Camouflage is a great ability to protect your monsters, keep it there
• Speed is key, the faster you go, the more damage you do
• Don’t be afraid of throwaway monsters, keep your important ones safe
