Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Equalizer, We All Start in the Same Spot!

Coming in with the next challenge! The Battle Mage Secrets is out and about, changed things up a little bit for me, but that is good, but it tries me on a new level and gives me some new challenges to win! This time around we are looking at an equal playing field!

This is a fun ruleset, since all monsters have the same health, it makes a difference it what you put out there, so you can use those monsters that have low health but awesome abilities, since it works in your favor!

The battle that we are examining for this one is a low-level mana cap at 14 plus:

Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
Broken Arrows: Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.
Weak Magic: Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health

This can be a rough one, ranged is always helpful, but with the low mana count, every monster needs to make an impact, it will be rough getting through those shields though.
Here is the quick link to the battle, from the Gold Modern league: (Link however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.

First up, the Summoner:

I do like Thaddius, the subtractions to magic and health, can give me an advantage so that they are not doing too much damage too me, something that is important in this fight.

The front line was the Corpse Fiend

This is a big one with the low mana count and equalizer ruleset, it will have more health than normal, which means it stays alive longer for my other cards to build up.

I do like this card a lot at 3 mana, the sneak is there incase they put someone in the back that would have high damage, hopefully I could knock them down, but the 1 shield also will help him stay in the fight longer.

This is one of my favorite death cards, one magic damage is not much, but the life leech means it will continually build up, as long as it doesn’t hit the shields. The big one I was looking for here though was the poison ability, if it procs on the enemy, 2 damage a round that skips shields, a great thing!

Bringing up the rear on this one is the Life Sapper, life leech again, but also 2 magic damage, I know using magic damage means that it hits most monsters all the time, I want to make sure I was hitting.

So, my initial thoughts on this one, water was not an option, one of my favorites for low mana counts, but I went death in stead on this one, hoping that my magic can make it through, but live long enough due to life leech, along with poison. The other two where there to let my magic users build up their health.

This was a rough one for me, but I did pull off the win. They used the Queen Mycella to give that extra armor, that made it more difficult for me to get through. However, the poison helped me out and that life leech is what really caused me to win since I could live longer than they could, also Thaddius really helped out, otherwise they would have been doing massive magic damage to me!

Things to keep in mind with the Equalizer ruleset:
• Everyone is on the same page, a 0 mana monster can have high health
• Healing is great when you can put it in there
• Focus on the abilities for this one, they will help you win
• Don’t be afraid of high health, just offset it with high damage
