Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Explosive Weaponry!

This has been a little while for me, I was on the road, so I was not able to write this out, but coming back in with this Battle Mage Secret like it is hot!

This is a crazy ruleset that changes so many things in a battle, focusing on so many things and then blowing everything around it up, is a great thing, you can get massive things going on with it but need to watch your back as well. High damage does help since it will do the half amount on the blasting.

The battle that we are examining for this one is a lowish-level mana cap at 20 plus:

Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
Explosive Weaponry: All Monsters have the Blast ability.
Briar Patch: All Monsters have the Thorns Ability.

Interesting set, usually speed works well with the Blast, but in this case, you want slow so that you hit before they do, then you want to watch out for melee monsters, since they take hits back, good throwaway things.

First up, the Summoner:

Thaddius is good on this one, taking away health is always a great thing, easier to knock out the enemy, but then throw in the subtraction to magic, that helps a lot as well, keeps that damage down. Usually I would take Kelya in this situation for the extra armor, but in this case, I don’t want the speed that comes with it.

The front line was the Carrion Shade

This one is here to take a hit, but with flight they hopefully will miss a little more than anything else.

This being a low mana fight, at zero mana, it fits very well, in this case, it is great for taking some of the blast damage.

Next up:

This is a great reward card, slower speed, decent health, the stun ability is really nice, but the 2 magic damage will sneak in under those shields, stunning them is a bonus.

I like this older reward card a lot, I use it a ton with my death runs, 1 magic damage is nice, but then life leech means that every round it will gain a health, but throw in some poison, and it becomes very dangerous, it is put in the middle here so that it can grow it’s health and stick around for awhile.

Another good card

I really like this soulbound card, at 2 damage it can do some hits, but the protect ability will give everyone some armor, which means they are in the fight longer, very important here!

The last card was the Soul Strangler

I really like the lore on this one, but it is here for the slower speed along with 3 damage, it can do some good damage considering the blast will be 2 damage, a great thing to have!

So, my initial thoughts on this one, I wanted lots of monsters out there, but they needed to be effective in dealing damage, so I looked at slower speed and recovery abilities, hence the protect ability and life leech, important elements to win with blast.

My strategy worked quite well on this one, it helps when the opponent does not pay much attention to the thorns ability. However, those blasts hit hard for me which caused me to win, you have to remember to look at all the rules otherwise it will not work out well for you.

Things to keep in mind with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset:
• Extra health and armor really does help out
• Snipe, Opportunity, Scattershot, great things to have for maximum damage
• Speed is key, the faster you go, the quicker you take them out
• Direct fire using taunt, so you know where they hit, use reflection shield to minimize damage
