Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Fire & Regret

Coming back in this wee for another one of my Battle Mage Secrets, this time around is something we all have done. You know what I am talking about, a word said, an item thrown at someone and you instantly regret it, yeah, that is what I am talking about!

This is a crazy ruleset that limits the choices, ranged can damage you as much as anything else, which can cause problems, not a good thing, but it still creates some opportunities!
The battle that we are examining for this one is a mid-level mana cap at 29 plus:
What Doesn’t Kill You: All Monsters have the Enrage ability
Fire & Regret: All Monsters have the Return Fire ability.
Super Sneak: All Melee Attack Monsters have the sneak ability.
Interesting set, you want to focus on speed and melee with the sneak ability, but you also want to watch out for that enrage ability, it can make things really interesting!
Here is the quick link to the battle, from the Gold Modern league: (Link however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.
First up, the Summoner:
Speed is what I was looking for on this one, increase that and it helps, but also the shield, means I will be sticking around a little longer, which is a great thing! The enrage I will hope that increase that speed, increase the misses.
The front line was the Cruel Sethropod
I do like this card a lot, at 3 mana, a good use of time with it, but then 4 shield, 4 health, yeah, hard to beat that with the cost!
Awesome card for super sneak, 4 melee damage along with double strike, you can’t beat it!
Next up:
This is a great reward card, quick at 4 speed, 2 damage, and 4 health, can’t ask for much, just getting the bang for the buck!
Another good reward card, 3 speed, which will become 4, but also the shield means that Uraeus will stick around a little bit longer.
Another good card
I love this card, use it all the time 2 damage, 4 speed, flying, and sneak, can’t be that, usually it is all the way in the back for me, but in this case, I put it to the second, for a good reason, paired with the next card.
The last card was the Marksrat
The main reason on this one is the martyr ability, so when this one dies, it buffs the cards around it, in this case, the bandit, which would get more speed, making it harder to hit. Having this one back here knowing it will get hit first because of super sneak, works out well, also, if they do not have melee attack, the fire and regret ruleset means this one will die.
So, my initial thoughts on this one, I wanted lots of monsters out there, but they needed to be effective in dealing damage. Quickness was good, but the double attack and other hard hitting elements was important, I wanted my front line to stay alive for a little bit, but then I also wanted to protect that backside a little bit, which I did with the Marksrat followed by the bandit.
My strategy worked for this fight, not the greatest, but the missing at the end helped, but the biggest part for me was how oppressive the enemy was, knocking down my melee damage by that much, that was painful. Luckily, I did hit just enough to win this one!
Things to keep in mind with the Fire and Regret ruleset:
• Extra health and armor really does help out
• Martyr is great on ranged monsters, you know damage will increase
• Magic and Melee is also useful here, look to buff them
• Armor repair can work out well, sometimes, firing and repair their own armor works well
