Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Holy Protection!

This is all about protection on this one, you get a little bit extra that keeps things in the fight just a little bit more, something to watch out for, it get’s to be dangerous quickly.

This one is nice, you get a free shot from them, but on that same token, they hit you as well, so it helps as well, but it does change things a little bit, just need more attacks to hit basically.

The battle that we are examining for this one is a lower-level mana cap at 22 plus:

Holy Protection: All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability

This is a pretty straight forward on this one, just the holy protection, it still changes the fight, but it is something to look into and watch how it plays out.

First up, the Summoner:

Going for the decreased health on this one, but also, the decrease in magic so that they do not hit me for a lot so that I can smack them quickly.

The front line was the Cursed Windeku

I love the Windeku up front on this one, 10 health on this one, but the thorns ability is useful for anything that will be attack it in melee means it will be getting hit and taking off that holy protection.

This one is here to take a hit, but with flight they hopefully will miss a little more than anything else.

Next up:

Life Sapper, life leech is important here so that it can stay in the fight longer, but also 2 magic damage, I know using magic damage means that it hits most monsters all the time, I want to make sure I was hitting.

This is one of my favorite death cards, one magic damage is not much, but the life leech means it will continually build up, as long as it doesn’t hit the shields. The big one I was looking for here though was the poison ability, if it procs on the enemy, 2 damage a round that skips shields, a great thing! Also, the poison can proc even if they have divine shield, consistent damage is always a great thing.

The next part of the strategy is up with the Ravenhood Warden:

The protect ability is the big part on this one, but with the 2 damage that is nice, adding in 2 extra armor to everyone in front of this one, means they should stick around just a little longer.

Lastly:

This being a low mana fight, at zero mana, it fits very well, in this case, it is great for taking some damage in case they use sneak.

My initial thoughts on this one is to use the Thaddius to knock down the health and magic, keeping my Windeku in the fight for as long as possible, using the Ravenhood warden for the shields. Then using magic to knock them down and hoping that poison procs to keep them going down for as long as possible.

The enemy went water on this one, using Oshannus right up front, hurts, that void armor means I will not be doing a lot of damage to him from magic, they also have heal on this one, which hurts. Hopefully the ranged and melee damage will stick around for this win. What helped a lot for me on this one was the poison pricing on oshannus to knock out that healing. That is what won me the fight, along with that holy protection to keep me there longer.

Things to keep in mind with the Holy Protection ruleset:
• Use abilities that go beyond the first hit, shatter and poison are great
• Phase and dodge are great abilities on this one, skips being hit
• Look for abilities/monsters that do more than one attack, means they will damage faster
• Speed is good to take them out first, and start doing damage faster
