Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Melee Mayhem, A Losing Proposition

So, I wrote a great introduction on this one, and then I had to go back and edit it, I lost, I thought I would catch the other person off guard with this one, but alas, they countered everything I did perfectly. So, this week it is all about what NOT to do for this rule set, having the great cards that they did, but perfect selection, I had no chance of winning this one!

This drastically changes the fight, since melee can attack from anywhere, bloodlust is really great as it says!

The battle that we are examining for this one is a mid-level mana cap at 33 plus:

Broken Arrows: Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.
Melee Mayhem: Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position

No ranged fighting this time, but melee make up for it, attacking from anywhere can cause some major problems, but this should work out for me on this one, using some good things, it should make a difference.
Here is the quick link to the battle, from the Silver Wild league: (Link) however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.

First up, the Summoner:

I went with a different strategy this time around, I went with the Windeku up front for that thorns, knock them down and I should win quite easily with this one, taking away that health with Thaddius means these thorns will hit hard.

The front line was the Windeku

I do like this card a lot, and I use it a lot as well, here as the tank because of the high health, with thorns, knowing there should be lots of melee I should do lots of damage with thorns.

Next is the rightwing, here because of the flight and scavenge ability, so when the Windeku goes down it should have a good amount of health and with some speed it should dodge some attacks.

Next up:

A couple of things on this one, it increases the speed of my team, important, 1 hit point, not great, but good chance there will be a lot of melee and if there is an opportunity strike, this one should hold it off for a little while with the speed.

My favorite sneak attack with Death, solid hitting for 3, using the sneak attack in this case to hit the backline, important part of my strategy, many people will think that I will hit the tank, but sneaking to the back, I should be able to get some good hits in.

The next part of the strategy is up with Uraeus

My second sneak attack, just picking away at that backline.

Lastly:

This one is here for two reasons, protect the backline, and use oppress to knockdown their melee attacks so that my thorns can hit harder.

My initial thoughts on this one, downgrade their health and their attack, have thorns hit many of them while I am sneak attacking that backline, should be quick and easy.

The enemy went fire on this one, which is to be expected to boost up melee attacks, however, they countered me well. Using taunt will take away those sneak attacks, and then having the Exploding rats with blast, that probably will not go well for me.

Thorns was a great idea, but having protect give everyone extra shields, countered it, and then, they had lots of strong attacks, it was a really good setup for them!

Things to keep in mind with the Melee Mayhem ruleset:
• Look for strong abilities, thorns and oppress are awesome!
• Look for double attacks, ranged/magic with melee on one monster, golden
• The longer you can keep your people in the fight, the better
• Speed, armor, always your friend
