Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Target Practice
A little over a week for me to submit this one, but, new artwork, have to love it! The look on this one is just awesome, getting ready to make you target practice!
This does change the game a little bit, you have to cover your non-melee monsters a little more, they will be taking the hits far faster than anything else, but you can exploit it for the win as well!
The battle that we are examining for this one is a low-level mana cap at 12 plus:
Odd Ones Out: Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles.
Target Practice: All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.
Low mana caps are always hard, but then throw in snipe, it cane make things even more interesting!
Here is the quick link to the battle, from the Silver Wild league: (Link) however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.
The opening shot:
First up, the Summoner:
Knowing the low mana count on this one, I wanted to make sure that I could pack some punches with my hits.
The front line was the Chaos Agent
Besides spelling the name wrong 😊 this is a solid card, doesn’t do damage, but at 1 mana, great for low level tanking. The other big thing was the dodge ability which gives them 25% chance to miss, so evasion tanking is the name of the game!
Kind of the backup, but also there for taking out some shield with shatter, another low mana for a reason.
Next up:
A part of the strategy on this one, hitting that backline is very important, which is the goal with the sneak on this one, adding tarsa it should knock them down quickly.
This is the second part of the strategy on this one, being ranged means there is snipe, but also being the first ranged or non-attack monster after the tank, it will get hit first, even from sneak attack as well, dying, means this one will buff up Uraeus to do a lot of damage!
This is a small fight due to the mana, but important for every choice. Hitting that backline with melee was the key, hoping that dodge would come into play to keep everything alive longer, add in the Marskrat to help with some damage and then boosting in death, that was the plan.
The enemy went dragon light on this one, specifically looking at Jared Scar and bloodlust to just knock everyone out quickly, and gaining power, a solid strategy. Then having Kra’Ar Xoc in the backrow to take some hits but then scavenger to hopefully keep him around for a little bit.
The first round was important for me for that one dodge, that helped, but then things just feel, the one shield on Uraeus was very important to keep Scar back for one round, which gave me the win!
Things to keep in mind with the Target Practice ruleset:
• Watch your Lineup on this one, you need a ranged tank to save your other members
• Quickness does help in these fights, knowing your monsters is key
• Sneak and taunt are good for different reasons.
• Don’t be afraid to try something weird, sometimes it works out well!
I hope my Battle Mage Secret helps you in your future fights in Splinterlands! This was a bad battle for me, and when you are watching a battle, you always need some Pizza! If you are looking for a great area of Positivity along with a great community, com join the Pizza Family!
