THUNDER OF THE SEA (Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Nerissa Tridawn)

avatar

Splinterlands continents are full of indigenous creatures, when these creatures join a battle, they turn into monsters and do whatever they can in their power to exhaust their opponents.

One such monster is Nerissa Tridawn, muscular in build and beautiful like a lily flower. She is a thunder-bearing cutie and her trident is infused with magical powers.

In this weekly battle challenge, we'll see how she poses a threat to her adversaries on the battlefield.

LORE

Nerissa Tridawn is a kind-hearted creature of the ocean. Her birth took place in the depth of sea waters, therefore she was granted magical powers that made him strong and agile.

Her golden trident hurls electrical charges on enemies, she has defeated many formidable sea monsters who posed threats to the peace of oceans.

She is also known as 'Nerissa the Hurricane' because of her good deeds and protecting villagers and seafarers from monster attacks and saving them from tsunamis.

RULESET

(Earthquake: All non-flying monsters will receive 2 damage after each round.)

(Holy Protection: Divine Shield ability will be applied to all monsters at the start of battle.)

STRATEGY
I fought this 46-Mana battle in Wild mode in Silver League. The battle was imposed with 2 rulesets as shown above in 'Ruleset' section.

This time I used a "Power Show" strategy which means using high-damage cards and exhausting enemies within a few rounds. Since I was given 46 mana to set by the battle lineup, I had an opportunity to introduce heavy hitters with high mana cost.

Delwyn Dragonscale is a good fit for Nerissa Tridwan's powerful magic, as he gives +1 magic attack to all allied magic monsters.

A detail of each monster's position and why it is a good choice for this battle is given below:

  • Agor Longtail occupies the first position with his absolute "Taunt" ability. He has a dual attack capability, 6 armor, and 11 Health points to withstand enormous damage in battle. His Void Armor helps him consume magic damage on armor. Agor's Flying ability is very powerful, it provides a 25% chance of evasion, so there is a probability that every fourth attack can be evaded this way.

  • Junker stands in 2nd position and uses his Reach ability to attack the opponent's tank monster in the first position. He has 7 health and can withstand at least 4 rounds due to Holy Protection Ruleset.

  • Nerissa Tridawn shines in 4th position with a powerful magic attack, her total damage reaches 4 points after a +1 magic attack added by Delwyn. Now, she can remove 4 Health from any tank that comes at the first position.

  • Scavo Technomancer in 4th position is blasting his opponents with extra damage to enemy units adjacent to the target monster. He can remove Divine Shield and any armor from 1 or 2 monsters with his blast ability.

  • Creeping Ooze has very little effect in this battle, but I used him to survive 3 rounds and give my monster an edge against Kelya Frendul's +1 Speed boost, so my monster can attack first.

  • Merdhampir in the last position is a good fit for removing Divine Shield and Armor from tank monsters.

I used gold foil and higher level summoner to increase reward points, this is in compliance with the recent change in R-Shares gain based on the level of cards.

Battle Video
This is what I call a pure power show of magic muscles, you'll observe how quickly enemy monsters are being destroyed in this wonderful battle video on YouTube.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

Kelya Frendul rubs his hand and envelops his units with extra armor and also gives them +1 to speed to evade and hit the enemy first.

Delwyn Dragonscale draws green smoke puffs that wrap up over weapons of friendly units giving them +1 to their magic attacks.

Round 1
Creeping Ooze throws a slime spit on enemy units removing 1-speed point from them. No monster from either side dies in this round, but magic monsters severely injure Deimonshark.

Round 2
Divine Shield is removed from all non-flying units by Earthquake damage.

"Roar! Raarrrr" Agor Longtail utters in an angry attitude and says "Die by my flames.", with a fiery breath, Agor completely burns Diemonshark, and ashes drop from the skeleton.

Nerissa Tridawn shouts "Filthy squid, I don't like monsters threatening my people, no more mercy on you." with that saying Nerissa points the trident in his direction and sends powerful electric charges electrocuting him to death.

Round 3
As the Earthquake shakes all ground monsters, a piece of land cracks and devours Creeping Ooze, Enemy units have regained +1 Speed.

Delwyn Dragonscale calls Agor from behind "Come on my mighty dragon, burn this ugly lurker and make him your meal."

Agor spews waves of fire and makes a nice barbequed Deeplurker steak for his lunch.

Agor then slaps Merdaali Guardian cutting her into 3 meat loaves, Scavo Technomancer feasts on those nicely cut meat pieces.

"I would have left you alone, if you would decide to defect your master, but not anymore." Nerissa warns Ice Pixie and zaps her tiny existence like a fly.

Round 4
Another aftershock comes below the ground and gulps Scavo Technomancer into the valley of darkness.

"You are big and strong, but no match for a dragon." says mighty Agor and burns Tower Griffin into a roasted eagle paella.

STRATEGY OUTCOME ANALYSIS

Saving the backline monsters with a Taunt unit has its perks, this is what I see in this magic power show.

My low-power monsters did a good job, Creeping Ooze kept the speed of the enemy to its original speed for 3 rounds, then Merdhampir removed Divine Shields and Armor from enemy monsters, and Technomancer also removed Divine Shields and weakened enemy monster with his blast ability.

I think that I could replace Junker with a Captain's Ghost card would have been a much better choice, as its magic attack would directly attack the monster's Health.

Narissa Tridawn's 4 magic damage took half of the tank's life making it much easier for the Agor to kill them.

Nerissa is a powerful magic card and can be very fatal if combined with magic enhancing Summoners. I like this card a lot.
