Reflection on Most Recent Events that occurred within our Community

Have you ever been so passionate about a project that you spend hours reflecting, brainstorming new ideas, considering choices that have been made, and potential threats that could unfold? For me, that project is TeamPH. What started as a method to provide the local Filipino Community of Calbayog City a mode of passive income during the Pandemic, has in fact, evolved into a Movement, where now we cater for Filipinos Nationwide.

We aim to provide them with Splinterlands Assets to remain competitive and are constantly encouraging freedom of speech through writing articles on PeakD, we have created a social platform through Discord, which promotes comradery, a collective approach to problem solving and a vision that is well aligned amongst our members. What is complimentary of this is that the main investors of this project, @leveluplifeph, @mernmin, @mchurchm and @mangomayhem, as leaders, remain cohesive in our decisions, which are made for the intent of betterment for our Community.

We spend much time as leaders educating people who are not so familiar with Crypto Currency, I for one was one of these Community Members. I lacked the understanding of the Digital Space and the Metaverse and what it could offer. I had some fantastic teachers and since August 2021 I have been gradually building a position primarily in Splinterlands however also investing in other areas of opportunities within this Eco System. I now share this valuable knowledge to others in the hope that it is also found useful in guiding them through their similar Journey.

We wish to share with our Community the benefits of Holding Assets, creating partnerships and encouraging empowerment. We provide our Community Members with the tools to earn however ask our members to stake, hold or provide liquidity. It is healthy for the Eco System to adapt this mentality as although there is always short-term gain to be made, to be labelled as a Value Extractor perhaps is more damaging on the long-haul especially to a Community that promotes change. Filipinos are seen as “Value Extractors” by a lot of people existing within, but the question lies how can you be a value extractor if you work hard for your earnings, the fact of the matter is, the Metaverse is diversified in culture and mindsets, most do not understand the situations of those from developing nations.

Here in the Philippines, leveraging and loans is not really an option unless you own collateral, especially in the provinces, cash is king. We do not expect our community to hold everything however simply to try the 60/20/20 rule and in the context of this Eco System it would be:

60% of the value from Peakd articles and Splinterlands End of Season Rewards is used for HP Powerup/ Staking SPS / Inserting into Liquidity Pool.

20% HBD savings – It is important that our Community Save for a rainy day. By investing in Hive Back Dollars, you are storing your savings and compounding through a 20% APY. It is also important that you have something to fall back on should your plans fail, a contingency plan, I treat the HBD saving as this, it is the budget perhaps that will be used for the future, HBD is a Stable Coin which does not fluctuate like HIVE.

20% Extraction – It is important that you have a small reward for your efforts to be spent on anything you wish. We call this, the “Funny Money”. As long as you are maintaining 80% within the Eco System, I feel that no one can call you an extractor. I usually use this to purchase needed cards, or as giveaways to support streamers.

We believe that the Splinterlands and the Hive Eco System is the perfect place for a Community Like ours, we are relatively new to this space but have found many people that have been willing to help us along our Journey, offering sound advices and preparing us for what awaits us moving forward. We wish to be the difference, an Organization that is reciprocal, from being a Community that receives help, we wish to share our blessing with others. We have a belief that nothing is ever freely given and that you need to work to receive, we wish to maintain a High Morale Standing. But that is not all, proof through stake will solidify influence and when owned by a person or Community with moral fiber, it can offer much benefit. This is a Target that we look to achieve.

We believe that everybody is open to sharing their views regarding the productiveness of our Community. It is ok to offer suggestions, to ask relevant questions and to provide knowledge that perhaps we have not yet obtained, you will be welcomed with open arms as you are providing value. This being said, there are also those in the existing Splinterlands and Hive Eco Systems that we have come across that have shown arrogance and a lack of understanding for our Filipino Culture, traditions and Ethos, which could be considered forms of bullying and belittlement. Bigotry still exists and within an environment focused on Peace, Prosperity and Freedom, should be regulated.

Here within our organization, we do not accept belittlement or any form of bullying, we are the shield around our Community and will fight openly those that wish confrontation. We are in a world of Keyboard warriors, sometimes it is best to rise above them, probably the most mature thing to do, however sometimes you have to fight fire with fire and become a monster to fight a monster.

“Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster… for when you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.” – Fredrich Nietzche

A friend posted this quote, whilst in discussion regarding a situation I had experienced, which I have reflected on. My understanding of this is that by fighting fire with fire, I just might like it and perhaps change my perspective of the goal at hand, eventually erasing all the good things that we have tried to bring, however I feel that sometimes it is justified to take this approach, and if you have a strong sense of integrity and a Community that supports you, you can always come back. Besides as he also mentioned, I am from South London, so I should know how to handle these situations, hence the “Dog of War” is born.

In summarization, Community is everything, and through the infancy stages, we are bound to run into challenges, we will keep our composure and open to Constructive Feedback however, please respect our Culture and Traditions, Filipinos are a loyal people, but if the tide turns, good luck to you.

This is MangoMayhem signing out, Ciao for now, and I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield.

If everyone in the community follows the 60/20/20 rule we are going to be a powerhouse. I am looking forward to seeing what community members are able to accumulate some HP.

Me too, I think if our Community Adapts this, we would position ourselves nicely to ensure our Community is in an advantageous scenario

Hopefully others can be more open and understanding. It's not always easy to push for a movement and that may not resonate with others who don't understand the culture and that's completely fine. The reason we're doing this is for the good of the Filipino community and that is the guide post that we'll continually follow. Let's go TeamPH!

Sometimes its not just all fun and games. Discipline is required for any type of organization or movement. That, along with a vision, a game plan, and some guidance and we will see things rolling in the direction of such awesomeness, those dogs will cry "BEER!" instead of "Havoc!"
