A big hello to the #Splinterlands and #Hive community. I hope everyone is feeling well, today I want to share my entry to the Splinterlands art contest #229. This time I chose to make an illustration taking as a reference the character of Serpent The Flame, this corresponds to the element of Fire and is a snake quite striking both for its colour palette and the concept of the character itself so I wanted to face this challenge and make my own version of it so let's start!

Un gran saludo usuarios de la comunidad #Splinterlands y #Hive. Espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, el día de hoy quiero compartir mi entrada al concurso de arte #229 de Splinterlands. En esta oportunidad elegí realizar una ilustración tomando como referencia al personaje de Serpent The Flame, este corresponde al elemento de Fuego y es una serpiente bastante llamativa tanto por su paleta de colores como el concepto del personaje en si por lo quise afrontar este reto y realizar mi propia versión del mismo así que ¡Comencemos!

To make this character I decided to make a fairly simple sketch with basic figures, for this I took some references and adapted them to a simpler and cartoon style which was my main idea from the beginning. For this I worked on a fairly simple pose and for this I tried to make fairly clean lines so as not to complicate too much when it came to placing the final line.

Para realizar a este personaje decidí realizar un boceto con figuras básicas bastante sencillo, para ello tome algunas referencias y las adapte a un estilo más sencillo y de caricatura la cual era mi idea principal desde un principio. Para ello trabaje en una pose bastante sencilla y para ello trate de realizar líneas bastante limpias para no complicarme demasiado a la hora de colocar la línea final.

Finished my sketch the following thing was to go placing the respective final line or lineart of the character in which I was correcting some errors that had the sketch and to add some final details, although in this case I didn't want to place so many details since my idea was to make a simple character and in this case the greater detail would place it applying colour.

Terminado mi boceto lo siguiente fue ir colocando la respectiva línea final o lineart del personaje en el que fui corrigiendo algunos errores que tenía el boceto y agregar algunos detalles finales, aunque en este caso no quise colocar tantos detalles ya que mi idea era realizar un personaje sencillo y en este caso el mayor detalle lo colocaría aplicando color.

Once the line was finished the next thing was to place the base colours, for this I used the same palette of colours of the original character and once placed I started to apply some shadows in which I didn't want to give so much detail as I would mainly work with the lights in the character.

Una vez terminada la línea lo siguiente fue ir colocando los colores bases, para esto utilice la misma paleta de colores del personaje original y una vez colocados empecé a aplicar algunas sombras en las cuales no quise dar tanto detalle ya que principalmente trabajaría con las luces en el personaje.

Once the shadows were finished I started to work on the lights which helped me to give the volume and some texture that the character needed, for this I gave a bigger focus to the red area, as well as to the eyes of the character because I wanted them to stand out a little more. I also placed some lights in the inner part of the character, although I didn't want to place too much as this is the darkest part of the character.

Terminadas las sombras empecé a trabajar en las luces las cuales me ayudaron a dar el volumen y algo de textura que necesitaba el personaje, para ello di un mayor enfoque a la zona de color rojo, así como también a los ojos del mismo ya que quería que destacaran un poco más. También coloqué algunas luces en la zona interna del personaje, aunque no quise colocar demasiada ya que esta es la parte más oscura del personaje.

To finish the character I only needed to make the fire, this is one of the most important characteristics of this snake and for this I tried to place it as a kind of wings so to speak giving the final touch that was missing. To be honest I hesitated for a moment whether to do it or not because I was quite happy with the result of my character, but in order to make a more faithful representation to the reference I chose to place it and to finish this illustration I placed the character in a simple background in which I played with some shades of blue and green, being the main focus this snake of fire.

Para finalizar al personaje solo faltaba realizar el fuego, esta es una de las características más importantes que lleva esta serpiente y para ello trate de colocarlo como una especie de alas por así decirlo dando así el toque final que faltaba. Para ser sincero dude por un momento en si realizarlo o no ya que estaba bastante contento con el resultado de mi personaje, pero para poder hacer una representación más fiel a la referencia opte por colocarlo y para finalizar esta ilustración coloque al personaje en un fondo sencillo en el que jugué con algunas tonalidades del color azul y verde, siendo el principal enfoque esta serpiente de fuego.
