Me and My Splinterlands Journey

About me

Great day everyone! Just call me mdasein (pronounced as em-dazayn). I am currently working as a faculty member at a Philippine state university. I enjoy physical activities, especially mountain biking. I used to ride my MTB in going to the university. With a distance of 20 kilometers and an elevation of 141 meters, my everyday ride on a bike in going to the university would usually take 1 hour.

Pandemic

Pandemic came. There was a pause if not a halt in daily activities. The academe was badly hit. No more classes, no more outdoor activities but things had to keep going. I tried terrace gardening and vermicomposting.

Mental Health Advocacy

Aside from the academe, I am also a mental health advocate. I used to have a regular program on our local radio station and on the university’s radio station during the pandemic. My volunteer work in mental health advocacy led me to know @Splinterlands.

Getting to Know Splinterlands

I was researching a topic about mental health and online gaming. I have read the pros and cons, the benefits and dangers of online gaming. One thing intrigued me then, “playing and earning”. I also inquired at school. Many of my colleagues were talking about “play to earn” but they were playing the quite popular game at that time: Axie Infinity. I looked at it but it was way far beyond my budget. I delved some more and Splintergames stood out. Signing up for the Splinterlands was easier than I expected. I used my Paypal in purchasing my first ever spellbook. In the following weeks, I was accumulating credits. However, there came a time that Splinterlands had a little trouble with accepting Paypal. I never had a hard time resolving my concern because the game support team was more than helpful, they considered me a valuable partner.

Splintelands and My Love Life

“Is it really a ‘play to earn’ game?”, my wife used to quip. It seemed to her that I was spending more than I was earning. Then the answer came. Splinterlands gave me valuable cards which I was able to sell for around Php 5000. I remember the first to buy from me was @damienwolf and I am grateful to him for saving my love life 😁.

The First Card I Sold

I explored more about Splinterlands. I even joined Splinterlands communities and found great people like @iamgem005, @psychkrhoz @jannidepp, and @imriltv to name a few. I also participated in the live sessions of @mangomayhem. Their passion for the game is exemplary and contagious.

TeamPH

One of the problems I encounter in playing the game was the rental of the cards. Most of the lenders would cancel before the stipulated rental period and this greatly affected my ranking. I was glad that I belong to SplinterlandsPh and I learned that @mangomayhem offered a rental scheme using TeamPh tokens. It was the first time I heard of the token. I didn’t mind the token at first. I only wanted to secure the cards in the duration of the season. When the season ended, mangomayhem still delegated the cards to me. I found out that his guild is very active in brawls. I inquired whether they need additional members and I was elated that he took me in to the LevelUpLifePh Guild unconditionally (the guild was renamed to #TeamPh Guild).

TeamPh

TeamPh members regularly keep in touch through Telegram and often hold online discussions through FB live hosted by @LevelUpLifePh. With these regular sessions, the vision of the team dawned on me and the goal of a stronger community was made clearer to me. This is the community that cares. This is the community that can bring every member towards the goal. This is the community for you and me.

Mabuhay TeamPh!

I feel honored that you took time to reply on my post. I reached the gold league last season. My ranking improved a lot with TeamPh.
