This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Counterspell Ruleset.

Ruleset Details

The Counterspell ruleset in splinterlands involves reflecting magic damage to the enemy units. The ruleset gives all monsters the Magic Reflect ability at the beginning of the battle, which deals back damage to any enemy monster that attacks with magic. The damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. It is important to note that magic monsters with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks. Moreover, the Amplify ability can be used to increase the damage that is reflected to the enemy monsters. The Magic Reflect ability does not reflect a fixed amount of damage, but the reflected damage is calculated as a fraction of the attacker's damage. The Counterspell ruleset can be highly effective against magic monsters, specifically the Water unit.

When I am presented with a combination of rulesets that include Ferocity, Counterspell, and Noxious Fumes, my default strategy is to opt for simplicity. Therefore, no monsters with Taunt ability to counter the Ferocity ruleset; opt for monsters with good health and armor to try to survive out Noxious Fumes ruleset and melee and range damage monsters to counter the Counterspell ruleset. On the contrary, my opposition ignored the rulesets and opted for a stack of magic monsters, with one having a Taunt ability. The battle played out quickly, and my monsters could dispatch the enemy monsters swiftly. The Rulesets played heavily in my favor, and I could reflect a lot of the magic damage and therefore clinch victory. Sometimes a simple strategy is all you need.

Do you like the Counterspell ruleset? Why or why not?

The Counterspell ruleset can be highly effective if used strategically. The ability to reflect magic damage to the enemy monsters can help players gain an advantage and win the game. One of the advantages of the Counterspell ruleset is that it allows players to counter a wide range of magic monsters. Coupled with the Amplify ability makes it a versatile ruleset that can be used in different situations. However, the ruleset can be less effective against opponents who do not rely solely on magic damage.
