Another week has passed in my challenge to owning a complete Chaos Legion Regular Foil Set and Land, and I will closely monitor and transparently share all details about the challenge in these posts.

Owning a Complete Chaos Legion Regular Foil Set and Land – Update 10

The Splinterlands team recently released a new post titled Land 1.0 - The Secret of Praetoria. The post details what features have been released as part of the Land 1.0 release, including; land surveying, the ability to use land deeds, and buying and selling Land within Splinterlands. The goal of phase 1.0 is to test core mechanics before the phase 1.5 release, providing the feature for players to stake their cards on their lands. As part of this, I have been reading and watching different splinterlands content creators claiming and then surveying their lands. Watching all the videos and reading everyone claiming and surveying their lands has given me slight FOMO. Still, I take solace that I am on my own journey and shouldn’t jump without fully understanding whether it will benefit me.

And that’s the thing; I am not sure how the numbers will play out when Land 1.5 is released, and you can stake monsters on the Land. Nonetheless, the challenge I am focusing on is purchasing a piece of splinterlands Land. As I have found out in the past week, the type of Land purchased does fluctuate in terms of cost. Peakmonsters have recently released a significant update that provides a great view of the different plots of Land for sale. The market has been in flux the past week due to people surveying and listing their lands and seeing lots of price spikes. Just a week ago, the following Lands were going for:

  • Commons: $70
  • Keeps: the cheapest one listed was $4,000 (not many were on the market)
  • Legendaries: lowest price on the market was $1,400
  • Magical plots: were seemingly undervalued relative to the market and were priced at $200.
I will be using these weekly blog posts to track price fluctuations. It will help me to determine when to go in and purchase.

From the above table, it seems the cheapest piece of Land will set me back $59 a common surveyed Land. Whether that’s valuable is challenging to determine. We have seen that the market highly values Magical plots as the cheapest common magical Land plot is selling for $299.

In terms of building the funds to pursue this challenge. I have saved ~$19 HBD so far and will continue to build up funds to purchase a Land plot. Buying a Land plot is one thing, but one needs to consider having the relevant cards staked on the Land to work, and having the DEC funds to fund that process also needs to be taken into account. Over the following few updates, I will look to break down the Land whitepaper to understand this in more detail.
