Regal Peryton Weekly Battle Challenge | Splinterlands #217
This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Regal Peryton.
A Chaos Legion edition rare level monster from the Earth unit at level 3:
- Estimated cost: $4.962
- Magic attack: 2
- Speed: 6
- Health: 5
- Flying ability - Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
There's an iconic Muhammad Ali video where he was able to dodge 21 punches in 10 seconds in a fight against Michael Dokes. In the fight, Ali is up against the ropes and can dodge all the punches Michael is throwing at him. If there was ever a moment to solidify the quote, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. His hands can't hit what his eyes can't see," that would be it. You are probably thinking, am I comparing Regal Peryton to Ali, arguably the greatest boxer of all time – don't worry, I am not. However, the Regal Peryton has so much speed and Flying ability that it can dodge many hits in battle. Also, it has a decent amount of health to survive in battle.
Battle - Full Battle Replay
- Mana cap: 29
- Rulesets(s): Close Range, Earthquake
- Obsidian (Summoner): +1 magic damage to all friendly monsters.
- Mycelic Infantry: primary melee tank with high health, armor and Shield ability.
- Xenith Monk: support melee damage and Heal ability.
- Choas Agent: backline meatshield.
- Regal Peryton + Djinn Biljka + Queen Mycelia: triple magic damage + team buffs.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
The primary strategy was to triple up on the magic damage to take advantage of the Obsidian magic damage buff and hope that my monsters were able to survive the Earthquake ruleset. My opposition went for a different strategy - opting for high-health melee tanks and range damage. Fortunately, this played precisely into the strengths of Regal Peryton - Flying ability able to dodge Earthquake ruleset damage, inflict lots of damage, and land many crucial hits due to its high speed. Anytime you clinch a victory against the OP, Yodin Zaku is a battle to celebrate regardless of its impact on your season or daily focus results.
Do you like the Regal Peryton? Why or why not?
I will keep this short - Regal Peryton is one of those must-have monsters in your splinterlands collection. Regardless of the level, it has enough speed and magic damage to be able to make an impact in battle. The market also tends to agree as a single bcx card will set you back $0.4, which is relatively expensive. Also, if you are looking for alternatives - don't bother; Regal Peryton is the cheapest monster with five-speed or more and Flying ability.
