Venari Knifer Weekly Battle Challenge | Splinterlands #177
This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Venari Knifer.
Card Details
A Chaos Legion common level monster from the Earth unit at level 1:
- Estimated cost: $0.086
- Melee attack: 2
- Speed: 4
- Health: 7
- Thorns ability: When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.
The weekly battles continue to focus on the new Chaos Legion cards, and this week it focuses on the Venari Knifer. When you view the Venari Knifer art, it gives you that World of Warcraft Rogue vibes - a stealthy character with dual weapons that focuses on DPS. However, the splinterlands version is a bit more interesting at level one; high health, high speed, ok damage, and Thorns ability to inflict melee damage back to the opposition if attacked. I have said it before, but some of these common Chaos Legion cards are very useful, and the Venari Knifer slots into that category.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
I didn't have Venari Knifer at a high enough level and therefore featured another Thorns ability monster with melee damage, the Sea Monster. The fundamental strategy in this battle was to offset the Armored Up ruleset with the Ice Pixie Shatter ability and then allow the Sea Monster to do its thing and land those punchy hits while healing itself after round. The Sea Monster also perfectly illustrated the Thorns ability when it gets hit, and it does damage back. Overall a satisfying win!
Do you like the Venari Knifer? Why or why not?
Six months ago, I published a post whereby I started that the Cursed Windeku is a Hydra in disguise. I explain why Cursed Windeku is a great, cheaper alternative to Hydra in the post. Venari Knifer is another more affordable alternative to Hydra in the same vein. A maxed Venari Knifer will set you back $31, whereas a Hydra costs $91 for a level one card! I am continuing to stack both Cursed Windeku and Venari Knifer to level them both up to level six.
