My Strategy to Stake 1,000 SPS for Higher League Participation

Splinterlands has been a game to reckon with. The developers make it more appealing with regular improvements to make the game more enjoyable and fascinating. Growing the league ladder is just another phase of excitement in itself. As an amateur player, I've been able to play higher leagues with rented cards of high collection power. That is quite cost effective as you can rent cards for as many days as possible while trying to get acquainted with the ruleset and game strategy.

After reading the report of last week's Splinterlands Town hall meeting, I had to decide whether to continue splinterlands game play or not. This is due to the fact that it was announced that SPS staking would replace collection power in the splinterlands game play. It was an eye opener for me that has been depending on cards collection power to navigate my way through to higher leagues. Not again!

Anyone that has played splinterlands, and has some fair knowledge of the game and has won battles to rise through the ranks would certainly not choose to stop. Definitely, not me. I'm not planning to stop enjoying the game as well as improve my planning and factor combination skills I learn from the game. The only option for me was to start planning on how to stake SPS slowly before the adjustments take effect so I can still participate in higher leagues for more challenging battles and higher rewards.

The table above is copied from the @Splinterlands Townhall report post. It shows the minimum SPS stake required to unlock leagues. I have had the opportunity of playing as high Bronze League I and I think that required just 1,400 card collection power to get there. With this new plan, it would be impossible for me because I barely had 50 SPS staked.

Gathering SPS for staking

Immediately, I had to start gathering SPS. I've had to use a part of my post rewards to start buying SPS. I was able to buy some 48 SPS with 2.8 Swap.Hive as shwon below.

Also, I claimed y GLX staking rewards and swapped the GLX into SPS. I had that at the ratio of 1 GLX to 0.4 SPS. Cool exchange and that was enough to gather more 36 SPS.

I am glad to have been able to gather 99 SPS from hive-engine purchases and transferred all to the splinterlands for staking. You can see a screenshot of my SPS transfer window below.

Summing up to 103, that is, plus my SPS staking rewards, I was happy to stake 103 SPS tokens and I think it is a smart move into the future of the splinterlands battle game.

My Strategy to Reach 1,000 SPS in 2 months

This is my first time of powering up this much SPS but it would be a continues thing. A total of 153 PS staked keeps me 847 steps away from my first goal of 1,000 SPS. I wish to attain this goal in 2 months, that is 8 weeks.

Dividing 847 SPS by 8 weeks means I have to power up at least 105 SPS every week. I am no interested at how much that cost, I am only seeing how to get to that milestone before the end of July, 2023. Supposing that this new adjustment takes effect in Q3, I am well positioned to continue enjoying the game. 1,000 SPS staked is the goal before July ending, 2023.

With that goal, I am sure I will be qualified to start at Bronze league I while I will set a new goal to qualify me for the silver leagues. Now is the real meaning of the higher you go the hotter it becomes. It would cost a fortune of SPS to stake as much that would get a player to Champions league.

Thanks to the new SPS stake delegation that is in place that will help cushion the stress player would have to go through initially with this new model. In any case, I think this is a step in the right direction to salvage the crawling price of SPS. But I am happy I got them cheap. I am inspired to stretch into higher leagues but that would mean also stretching to stake more SPS.
