Collection value keeps dropping

I've been recording my collection value every Monday since the beginning of 2021. The first month of 2022 just ended and I was curious to see how much I lost over the last 4 weeks.

30% that's how much my collection value dropped according to the data e collected from the Splinterlands discord bot. In reality, my collection value dropped more than that because I opened some Chaos Legion packs and I've been completing my daily quest every day without selling any of the cards I collected. I even bought some useful CL cards to add to my deck.

What explains such a drop

The biggest contributing factor is the big crypto pullback that we're currently experiencing. On top of that, the release of Chaos Legion made some legacy cards replaceable by cheaper alternatives. New players are opting to buy CL cards since they're way cheaper and equally useful when compared to Beta cards.
They might lose the perks of the extra DEC per battle and the added airdrop points but they're saving a lot of money upfront.

I was expecting a big pullback and it is only natural. I will keep playing every day and staking my SPS while we wait for lands to come around.
