Splinterlands Battle Rewards Just Doubled & Giveaway

There's always something new every week for Splinterlands! Starting today the battle rewards are no longer paid in DEC but in SPS instead. This change by itself doesn't mean that much for the average player but the dollar amount of rewards being distributed per season just doubled!

That's right, in the recent Splinterlands post you can find a board that compares the dollar amount of DEC being distributed per season versus the SPS amount in dollars that will be distributed per season, starting today.

This update is huge for the future of Splinterlands, I expect DEC to slowly climb back to its peg over the coming weeks. On the other hand, the supply of SPS will increase leading to more price suppression, at least until the release of Rift Watchers.

Another interesting number to keep an eye on is the amount of SPS being burned for DEC. I don't believe the burn amount will surpass the 3,750,000 SPS being printed every season but I'm very curious to see how much SPS will be burned over time.

I assume that people will only be willing to burn SPS once the price of DEC recovers the peg. Since every $1 worth of SPS burned will only mint 975 DEC. This mechanism is quite interesting, the lower the price of SPS the more SPS gets burned, creating a stronger lower price resistance over time.

It's fantastic to see how much attention the devs pay to tokenomics. That's the difference between making a quick cash grab or making a long-lasting game, Splinterlands is going places!
