Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - 80% Win Rate!

Time flies! Just completed the 13th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me. This time, there were only 5 battles for my fray and I kept telling myself I must make them count! Had a stressful time selecting my lineups (sometimes having too many Gladius cards creates more permutations to consider) and I was glad my efforts pay off! This was definitely my best brawl performance in all my 13 brawls with Pizza 2!

  • We Got 2nd!

So for the final result, we finished 2nd out of 10 guilds and got a yummy 852 Merits! Definitely a good result!

Individually, I had 5 fights this time and I managed 4 wins!!! That put me 4th within the guild. To be honest, I was in total disbelief when I saw the final result. This worked out to a 80% win rate and none of my opponents fled.

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Bertrol Gobson

Both teams used the same Gladius card but my summoner did all the heavy lifting and my Melee lineup didn't have much issues overcoming the Earth lineup.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Katrelba Gobson

My Gladius card got Bloodlust going ahead of my opponent and I think the positioning of the Mycelic Slipspawn made the difference I think. As for MVP, it's a close call because everyone played their part and all else equal, I would give it to the tank.

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

My opponent fielded a relatively weak lineup using way less than 50 mana. Free win for me due to an obvious gap in the quality of cards here.

Battle 4 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Hugo Strongsword

I was beaten badly in this fight as I had no answers to the opposing Gladius card. After a couple of Bloodlust, my cards were just no match for her.

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Ajax Lightfoot

I panicked when I was selecting this team - when time was running out, I just randomly selected cards because I was still undecided which element to use. Fortunately Chaos Dragon was a good tank but the MVP was the healer, which made the difference between winning and losing in the battle.

Review Of Gladius Cards

Since I am able to use Gladius cards now, I thought I should review selected cards that helped me win in the brawls. This week's feature is none other than Ajax Lightfoot! Of course, please let me know if you have any tips in using these cards too as I am keen to learn and improve too!

CARD: AJAX LIGHTFOOT
ELEMENT: LIFE
RARITY: RARE
ABILITY: BLOODLUST

I am not a fan of Ranged Gladius cards because they are unable to deal damage when they are in the first position (except for certain types of battles). Nonetheless, the strength of this card is the speed and it could absorb some misses from opponents' Snipe or Sneak attacks. At 4 mana, it's not an expensive card either and is eligible for Little League battles.

As I understand his words, he was in disbelief because of seeing that his win rate is 80%, and that none of his opponents fled. So this was an unbelievable and very pleasant surprise for him.

At least this is my understanding.
